Fog Retro (almost done!!!)

I wanted to know everyone's opinions before i put put the clear acrylic lense on the front. 1) all black fogs or 2)fogs with chrome bezel ? I honestly can't make up my mind.

1) All Black Fogs

2) Chrome Bezel Fogs

50/50. I think the black matches the clear lights better, the bezel would match if they werent.
No vote.

blktalon456 05-26-2009 04:27 AM

The chrome bezel brings out the front end more. It honestly says I'm here are you ready?

:buttkick:Told you I was comin for you. That's why nismo is the ish and every thing else is dough :deezo:

Bassbreaker 05-26-2009 07:55 AM

chrome...matches the headlights

IlyaK 05-26-2009 08:08 AM

What kinda projectors are those (fog)? You planning on doing a write up? Did you have to cut the lenses off or did you manage to pry them?

MOHFpro90 05-26-2009 09:16 AM

Black with the chrome bezel.

nalc 05-26-2009 09:32 AM

chrome - you want the blazer shrouds to match the FX shrouds.

How did you make the clears, BTW? Just made a mold and heated plexiglass over it?

Snypa 05-26-2009 10:02 AM

I think stock fogs are the best...but if i had to choose from the two, i would go with fully blacked out. GL

Tatanko 05-26-2009 11:34 AM

I would say the chrome ones. But, I am also a fan of stock for the most part. To be honest, with headlights as good as ours, who even uses fog lights? :p

I'm going to be one of those losers who runs the fogs only. lol

ChrisMan287 05-26-2009 12:18 PM

Black fogs with the chrome bezel looks better

maximase86 05-26-2009 05:12 PM

Chrome bezels make the fogs match the headlights since those projectors already have bezels too.

I did that with my old Max, but I've never rewired this car.

W/ Chrome is official. I like those projector fogs where did you get them from??

nalc 05-26-2009 08:02 PM

I think that he made custom clear covers for them (no fluted glass) and retrofitted blazer 880 fog projectors in. I don't know why he's putting so much effort into his foglights when he doesn't even have quad projectors in the headlights yet :D just kidding buddy

krashkid0305 05-26-2009 08:28 PM

i think the all blacks look stealthy. the chrome does match the h/l projectors but the hidden fogs is def a pretty cool look. only works with the black cars tho =(

vilmaxima 05-27-2009 12:56 PM

chrome bezel, brings out the front a lot more. Also matches a lot better with the headlights.

seanwn 05-27-2009 01:19 PM

are you mounting those fog projectors in factory fog housings?

If you're wondering how i attatched the D2S; I used a pcv pipe that was a mm too small. I eventually was able to slide the pcv pipe over the blazer bulb tunel. Then i used gorilla tape over the pcv and the edge of the D2S bulb.

The hinge was getting in the way... so i had to cut it in half.

What is that, vacuumed formed lexan?

AndrewR2442 05-27-2009 05:35 PM

I had a friend of mine do it for me. I believe its some type of acrylic. It was made with by taking a mold of the original and pressing the acrylic while warm. I just hope it doesn't get hit by a rock ever b/c it is really rigid ...

seanwn 05-27-2009 06:43 PM

would you be interested in making extra of those clear lenses, and doing sales?

Coolsaber57 05-27-2009 07:00 PM

Chrome bezels definitely.

Leo_Koneval 05-27-2009 07:04 PM

First of all, your car looks GREAT!

And I think blacked out with chrome bezel looks great. It brings your whole front end together by matching the fogs with headlights

AZombiePENGUIN 05-27-2009 07:28 PM

+1 on thoses lenses.im thowin fogs in my gle and this would be a nice future mod. great work so far man

wirelessdude04 05-27-2009 07:43 PM

very nice cant wait til done

trand71 05-27-2009 09:40 PM

I say go for the black housing, nice job. That's my next project after the 00VI install.

max95q 05-27-2009 09:48 PM

I chose with the bezel. Without it looks like a half *** job. With the bezel makes it look like they were made to be there factory setup. Very nice work. I was planning on doing the same to my 95 foglight housings. I started last year but marriage and a house caused me to slow down. Congrats on the retro. Looks really good.

NismoVQdet? 05-27-2009 09:48 PM

wow those look amazing.. I think blacked out with chrome bezel looks the best..

:sprint: on the clear lenses.. if you ever start producing these ill buy 2 pairs from you!!

Tatanko 05-27-2009 09:53 PM

Ahh, clear lenses! The setup just gets better and better. That's what I needed for my retro'd fogs on my old '95...the fresnel lines KILLED the output :(

To anyone wanting clear lenses, contact kzoosho. He doesn't make them, but he and I had talked about a company local to him that was willing to do custom stuff like this for a fee.

chrome, nice progress either way, just the lenses are hot, the whole project is quite amazing

djslim85 08-22-2011 12:59 PM

Know that this thread is old, but considering the heat, how have your lenses held up? Considering this mod since the lenses suck on our fogs.

tigersharkdude 08-22-2011 02:33 PM
