It's definitely worth it. You'll still feel the power stock muffler or not. Here's a vid of how my stock muffler sounded with the y-pipe:

Y-pipe with stock exhaust is the best bank-for-your-buck mod on the 4th gen. Adding a 5th gen muffloer will improve it more, but not as much as a resonated B-pipe on top of the Y-pipe.

I used to have headers and a y-pipe (as well as a high-flow cat and budget b-pipe).

It was too loud for me. Yours doesn't sound very loud. Do you think the headers is what was making my car so loud?

Got any vids of inside the car with just a y-pipe?

Headers definitely. Sorry but no vids from the inside. Even now with the Stillen muffler, it's still nice and quiet.

I had the ypipe and stock muffler setup for years. It sounded awesome and the power was great. I went ran a 14.9 in the 1/4 mile with that setup also.

Nope, has to be welded. Or alternatively, you could have a flange welded on I guess.

I didn't care about the flange, so I had mine welded on. Not sure which one is more expensive.

Now all I need is a damned Y-pipe. My flex section is looser than ho' on payday

IIRC it doesn't. It'll have to be welded on.

Sounds like he has an exhaust leak somewhere. Mine sounds nothing like that and I'm running a Budget Y, B and stock muffler. It's quiet.

Pardon the intrusion.....but I've got an auto too and I've always had a hankering to get a Y-pipe and I was curious to know if any of y'all auto guys lost any low end after it's install. Also curious to know the benefits of a resonated B-pipe and if it adds any extra noise to the exhaust because honestly that's the last thing I want. Extra power yup, extra noise nope. I'm a slightly older cat so the increased noise (and most likely attention) is something I'd prefer not to have.

Thanks.

Yes they just bolt right up. Warpspeed is good. See if you find 1 in the classifieds on here. I bought mine for $80 used a while back. It was definitely the best "bang for my buck" mod.

Yup my low-end power has now been shifted to the mid-high range. There's nothing wrong with that.

Nah you just gotta step on it a little more down low that's all. I love the mid-high end boost, especially with my intake spacers and CAI.

Aye. Sounds good then. I've got no qualms hit'n it and to be honest, the mid and top is where I want it when passing anyway. Curious again though....since you have to bang it a little harder, have you seen any difference in your gas mileage?

Not really. It's a little better cause I did the KS resistor mod, so my mileage is a little over 300 to the tank. Not bad for mixed driving. Before the mod I was roughly getting 250-270 to a tank. I couldn't be happier.

Good news. I was getting about 285 straight up when I was living in Atlanta but now I'm up in the sticks so I've been seeing 360 plus. Even if I shave off a few it'll still be agreeable. If I gain, then ****** A.

Thanks for your input ChrisMan.

lol.

Quite the slaughter fest in OT eh. Grain of salt I reckon but perhaps take this opportunity to inspire yourself to get it done on your own. Break from the teet if you will. Look for ways to turn your thoughts, idea's, desires and knowledge into an independent path of productive enlightenment. Use your knowledge not only to help yourself but others as well.

Oh and don't be afraid of hard work, be it in whatever field. If it takes working a shyt **** gig in a mall then so be it as there is no greater reward than earning something for yourself.

Your a smart kid and were helpful to me so I have the utmost confidence that you have it in you. Time to get it done buddy.

Good luck.

and back to the Y pipe discussion.

Sorry for the sidetrack y'all.

You got a vid? I'd love to hear it from the inside of the car. I'd like a Y-Pipe, I'm just worried it's going to be too loud for my taste.
