OEM, Clear, or Smoked Tails? Which do you think look better?

So I'm getting ready to swap out my OEM tails for smoked ones to see how they look. Previously, I did have clear tails on and I liked the look. Whichever one I pick will eventually be getting LED'ed.

I know I should mod for what I think looks best, but I also mod so the general public/other enthusiasts like my car as well. Otherwise, we'd have a bunch of ugly cars running around.

That being said. What do you think:

The LEDs really pick it up, either way.

I'm always a bit disappointed when I see an amber 4G on the road, either clear or smoked clear is such a dramatic and (IMHO) necessary mod, along with the clear corners.

Hm I'm torn between smoked and clear. My choice is clear just because I feel it'll flow better with the color of the car and theme. The smoked tails go with nothing on the car.

Well...that's what I thought.

But the smoked does go with the tinted glass. If you're behind me, you won't see the clear corners or the chrome headlights.

However, my rims are silver/clean so...maybe I'll have to go with clear again.

Yeah exactly. If you had some gunmetal rims on the other hand, I would definitely say smoked.

If you're going to LED them, go smoked, otherwise stick to the red/clears

Stick with clear, it matches the rest of the car's lighting. I know you said you won't see the front lights when looking at the back, but it's about the overall look. Clear in your case.

It really depends on what color your car is which looks best. Like on my 97 being black the clears look best. On your color definitely the smoked.

red/clears hands down
from my observations, your car has a lot of mods, yet still looks OEM. i love that about your car. getting smoked tails wouldn't flow well with your theme, and it will create too much going on in the rear of your car. you already have the blue license plate LEDs. red/clears LED's would definitely look amazing, better than the smoked ones.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm still undecided. I look at the pics every now and then, maybe I'll decided in a couple of weeks.

J RO. Thanks.

But just in case anyone is wondering, the license plate lights aren't really that blue. The camera makes them that blue. They are more similar to 4300-5000k HID lights. Meaning white with a hint of blue.

red and clear.

the smoked doesn't look nice on a light colored car, with light colored wheels.

That being said, I have dark wheels on my Neptune Blue, and the red-smokes look AMAZING on it.

Ilya, man, I like the smoked clear part, and the regular red part.... [the one from post #28]

Reminds me of the way some of the mercs and stuff come factory. Never the less, second choice is all smoked.

Smoked should be reserved for a dark car.

A little late for the clear gang bang but my vote was for the clears straight up too. Looks crisp, sharp and the LED's have em popping even more. Very nice.

They got cracks and such. If that's fine with you, that's cool with me lol.

They are the ones Max2Envy98 (I believe) was selling.
