High pitched whine when going 60mp+

When I'm going past 60mph, I hear a faint high pitched whine. It gets a little louder at higher speeds. Below 60mph, I don't notice it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Stock 1995 Maxima GLE. Can't really localize it while going 60+. But I would think it's a rotating part that increases speed with rpms. I'm thinking it's coming from under the hood. If it was the transmission, would I hear it?

could it be the 'alternator whine'?

I don't know. I didn't think any of the belt-driven components changed speed with the speed of the engine.

Could it be some air just coming in through the firewall, like a whistling when your window is barely cracked?

Super charger? Turbo? haha just kidding

I am not sure, but I agree that it could be a belt or alternator. Or perhaps somehow wind is getting into somewhere that it shouldn't and so its whistling. But I am not sure if wind would be loud enough to over come the noise from going 60+

my friend has this same problem on his 96 SE, it only started after he hooked up this AUX cord for an iPod in the back of the stock bose system. he was messing with some of the wiring and now everytime he hits the freeway it starts so have a little "whine" to it. he checked the wireing but has yet to find out whats wrong. i hope that helps a little bit.

Mine is coming from my intake, specifically its whistling through the throttle body and the IACV. Though, I'm running the A33 equipment. Never really bothered to try and fix it.
