Mine was bad right from the start
Get one or two from the junkyard for like 5 bucks and toss the old one. Happened to me
and now I can charge my phone again

Check the wiring. Make sure the plug in the back of the cig is plugged in and sure that there isn't a short in the wiring. Shouldn't be too hard to troubleshoot this.

How are you determining that it isn't working?

Are you plugging in devices? Are you trying to use the heating element? Are you testing with a multimeter or test light?

By 'cig lighter' are you referring to the heating element, or the socket?

Well have you checked for power? There's always the possibility that the heating element is just dead, and the iPod charger has it's own issues (or the iPod itself).

Here we go again: did you do anything, have anything done, or did anything happen to the car before this started happening?

What fuse are you checking?

Did you replace it because it was blown, or just because?

Just swap it out for another one and see if that works.

I had a max with one not working also. i was goin nuts! i wrapped a piece of speaker wire around the metal part of the cig lighter fuse and stuck it in (make sure it's the side of the fuse that will prevent flow if the fuse is blown), snaked the wire under the watchamaycallit, pulled off the trim and spliced the existing 12v wire and yay!!!

Any reason you didn't fix it properly? That's quite a...hackish way to go about it.
