Hesitation after Stop and Stalling Problem

My max has been giving me some trouble. Almost everytime i release the brake pedal to press the gas the car hesitates, almost as if stalling out. It started about 2 weeks ago, only once a day or every other day. Its gotten progressivly worse. And several times in the past few days its stalled out at a stop while idling in drive (Auto). But easy to restart. While sitting in idle it will idle erraticlly but not constant. itll surge every 30 seconds or so and dip back down below 500 rpms. then return to normal.
So i pulled the spark plugs out and they all looked fine. Replaced all of the coils with some used ones i bought from a member awhile ago. now it runs a little smoother and hasnt actually stalled since. I've had a CEL on for the canister control valve and Small evap leak. p1448 and p0440. For about a month. Id rather not pay a mechanic so the org is my best bet.

Any suggestions? Could it be caused by the evap problems?
Any help is greatly appreciated

I hope you saved the old coils, if there wasn't much of a change most of them are probably OK. You should test them. When you say the idle 'returns to normal' where does it return to? About 700rpm? When you pull up to a stop, does it go right to 700 or 'hunt around'? Have you cleaned MAF and TB? There are lots of things that can be causing this, so maybe start with X0,000 maintenance for air and fuel related items.

Sounds MAF related to me. If you have any freinds that own a max I would try there MAF and see what happens. I has almost the same problem ended up being the MAF.

I had a volvo that acted similar to that and the problem turned out to be a gigantic hole in the intake piping(after the MAF) when I replaced the intake piping the problem went away immediately. Course it could be the MAF as well
