00vi info, help please!

Hi all,
I've been doing some searching and am considering starting on an 00vi swap but I had a few quesions.

1. What types of gains can be had by just swapping the 5th gen upper intake with modded 4th gen lower?
2. What types of gains can one expect if you removed the variable portion and just basically utilized the intake?
3.What is the most cost effective/efficient setup?

I have located an upper 5th gen intake, and pre drilled lower. Just trying to weigh out the cost vs benefits.
Thanks for expertise!

Read it and downloaded it, BUT it does not quantify the gains for utilizinng a partial setup. I am here to seek knowledge, if you dont want to give it thats fine, but I dont understand the point in being rude. I asked a simple set of questions regarding a partial setup, and was wondering if anyone with experience knew what if any gains could be had w/.out the 5th gen injectors, vafc/vias, etc, just a basic parts swap.
Thanks in advance for CONSTRUCTIVE input

Did you search the DYNO forum? I mean it's only common sense. Did you search for 00VI dyno? Did you search for 00VI at all and click every single thread to see if it would help?

Nobody is being rude here sir. Everyone is simply stating that the information is on the forum ALL OVER the place. Seriously, just yesterday (maybe two days ago) there was a thread posted with the manual in it. Its an amazing write-up. And if my memory serves me right, it clearly states, "Generally, the 00VI yields between 15 and 20 whp, though the gains may vary from application to application." If that does not tell you what gains can be expected (partial setup or not), you probably shouldnt do the upgrade.

Again, there is so much information on the 00VI and the MEVI on this forum that there probably should never need to be another thread over either one ever again. Just use the search feature, make sure you use the advanced option, and double check your settings so that you can get the perfect results.

I hope that's "constructive" enough for you buddy.

I did, but as I stated, I wont have all the parts listed so I'm attempting to gather info that will help compare "apples to apples" if you will. I do not have $400-500 in disposable income to invest in the project but had found a fair price on the parts listed and wanted to know if it would be a worth while project. According to a very helpful pm, with just the upper, and a modded lower, probably not...

DEK engine > Full 00vi Swap > Half 00vi swap with 4th lower

Reason? Larger injectors + required tuning + swirl valve removal + port matched alignment of manifolds = greater power potential.

Don't quote me on the 2001 engine itself being better than the Full 00vi swap but i figured the newer engine has had some tweaking and updated parts.

How do I know this? I spent a LOOONG time searching this site. I use to many search variables it makes me wonder why the search function is so primitive.

According to my research, you can get everything you need for around $350, that may be pulling the 00VI from a junk yard, but it will save you $$.

If you are looking for cheap hp gains, just go with a y-pipe.....

Thanks for the input, I've been watching the classifieds for one of those too, only one I have seen was one with a leak that would have cost me a pretty penny to get shipped.
Good info, Thanks all

It's not exactly about HOW much power it will give (granted it will give you great gains) but it's about WHERE the power is added. Maxima's suck at 5.5k to 6.5k rpm. 00VI helps this plus more

there's enough info on here where you don't even have to hit the search button

Indeed, everyone thinks in peak power, not usable power.

And OP, here you go, I searched for you:

Read all of those, and if you still have questions...

My graph without the VI.

My friends graph with a VI

Dont pay to much attention to the numbers look at how the power keeps climbing with the VI compared to the stock manifold.
