Values of Autos vs. Manuals
I am seriously looking in to trading my 97 GLE automagic in for a 97-98 5 speed and I am wondering what the difference is between value for a dealer. How hard is it to sell a manual vs. selling an automatic? Would they rather have an auto? I am curious because I have found a few 5 speeds around here that are VERY similiar to mine in mileage, feature, etc, and I am wondering how much difference in price there will be. Thanks!

I think it's like common sense.. Auto's sell better... more people drive automatics then manuals. I heard someone here say that only like 5% of maximas are stick???
It depends on the car, ofcourse sports cars would probably sell better with manual trannys, but when it comes to a car like a Max, which is a family car, more people buy autos..... I had that idea running in my head for a little bit too.. trading my 98 gxe auto for a 97-99 stick, but i am settled down with my auto now.. hearing experience from another member who drives in similar areas as me who got a 5 speed and he's not that satisfied with it because an auto is much more suitable for the type of driving he does. NYC is obviously not the best place for stick. But, I don't think the difference in price will be that big.. however, if you are thinking of trading in your car and getting the stick, be prepared to loose 3-5 grand, because dealer will not give you market value for your car, they will give you trade in value, maybe even less... It would be better selling it yourself and buying the stick.. it would definately save you $, might even make u some, considering u have a top of the line model... I just don't want the hassle.. and I don't want stick bad enough, for a stickshift car I think I'll eventually get a smaller, faster, sportier car just for fun and let the max be what it is.
