if your title says GXE - those are added options at the time of purchase - new. SE has white gauges, 16" tires, intermittent (adjustable) wipers. I'm sure there's more, but you get the idea.

se models have body color door handles, body color grille, rear spoiler, fogs, sunroof, sometimes cloth, balck window trims instead of chrome, white face gauges rather than black.

this is a quote from the thread i made about se.. not sure if its correct though

"TO DECODE THE VIN PLATE:
Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator, defined as follows:
E = GXE
G = GLE
V = SE"

From the faq.

Indeed, that's one way to tell what trim level it is.

OP: If you don't trust the VIN plate for some reason, I can run your VIN in FAST and tell you what the trim is.

95/96 SEs (any trim level, actually) only had 15"s, 16" were only in 97-99.

I also thinnk it's and SE.

Those rims look like they are directional and they seem to be the wrong direction.

I think they should be on th eleft side.

Anybody agree???

No, 95/96 SE and 97-99 GLE wheels (which are the same) are not directional.

doesn't matter what way they go as long as you don't have directional tread on there..

It has all the features of an SE, so it probably is.

My title says "GXE/GLE", even though it's an SE.

Don't worry about it. My insurance card says "Maxima GLE" and I most definitely have an SE.

Got everything took care of at the insurance co. See looked at the paper work and i explained my sitution. She type my vin in and it came up se ! She apologized and then she said it was a good thing that i caught this. She said if i had totaled the car the insurance company would have payed for a base model and not an se model. Needless to say i feel better !
