Noob here . . . I just bought a 1998 Nissan Maxima with an automatic v6. The shifter is starting to develope a problem going into gear. If I wiggle and play with the shifter and button it will eventually go into gear when it has this problem. This problem is intermitent and doesnt happen every time. Thanks in advance for your input.

Check the linkage from the shifter to the transmission.

 

i had this problem when i got my tranny rebuilt. just had to adjust the linkage
