Dreaded 1005 CEL
Dreaded 1005 CEL
Well I got the 1005 cel and cant seem to fix it. I checked the egrc solenoid and it clicks when I manually apply 12v to it and when it clicks I have verified that the ports do change flow paths when blowing through them and applying the 12v. I have taken off each of the 3 hoses to make sure they werent clogged and the one from the manifold is supplying plenty of vacuum. The only thing that doesnt check out per the Haynes manual is the wiring terminals supposedly with the key on there should be voltage going across the 2 pins. Mine doesnt. I have hooked one of the ends of the test light to the ground on the battery and touched the other end to the 12v supply terminal on the plug it the test light lights up but when I put the end of the test light onto the 12v side of the battery and touch the other terminal on the plug which should be ground I get nothing. So Im thinking that the ground is messed up. Any of other ways to verify this and track it down? All I am getting is the 1005 code. Thanks
The ground pulse comes from the ECU, so you might not have it on all the time. Try the test again with the engine cold.
Test to make sure the EGR valve is even working as it should. Run the car, and move the diaphragm with your hand to see if the engine studders.
Also check all your vacuum leads at the intake. If any of them are clogged with carbon deposits, it'll cause problems.
