Hey guys,

I stumbled across a really clean looking 4th gen max with high mileage 172k pictured below.

My thinking is for a reliable dd as i want to trade my altima coupe for HR 350z soon. Fwd is getting boring.

This one is being offered 2700.

What would you guys offer and what are things to look for on a test drive and inspection?

Im a prior owner of a 97, but it was a long time ago.

Thanks for any help

I may look at this weekend.

It is pretty clean from the pics, but the close up and drive should tell the story.

Should I be afraid of the mileage? 172k? especially a dd

That's a beauty, my old 4th gen is up to 258k and still going strong, so if it went 172, its can go even longer, and it looks to be in in good cosmetic condition. Put it on the lift, if all checks out, take it. =]

Mine has about the same mileage on it, couple thousand less. But runs great.

I say go for it, thou I am partial to that color I was trying to get one of my friends to buy that car but he didn't want the same color as my car

Just go thru check for the normal, radiator support rust ect.

I would not pay that much for a car with that much miles. I got mine in June Fully loaded from the second owner with 88k miles on and I paid $2900!

I already went to go look @ that car earlier last week.
The front and rear fenders are rusted quite a bit
The radiator support brace and bar are going to need to be replaced as well

Raining on my parade..

Is that a lower or upper? Is it hard to access? What would the cost involved be?

On the fenders is it noticable from outside?

a cars value is contingent on many things other than just mileage. Location plays a big factor in a cars value. That car appears to be at a dealership which means if they are asking 2700 online, the lowest they will go is probably 2500.
That car does have a couple of things going for it, it is an SE and it has ACC. Of course it is also a stick which is a positive to you, but a negative to most people.
Run the stats through edmunds and see what it pops up for values.

Given the above rust issues i might not be interested. Thanks though.

Regarding the 02' and up. Do they all have hlsd? or was it 2002.5? How can you tell?

The tone is slightly different. I noticed it because it's my car, but anyone else they just assume it's stock.

Radiator rust on these happen on the lower support. You basically take the front bumper off cut the old one out and weld the new one in. I know some people have just welded a plate in to replace the rotted out piece as a temp fix.

car looks really good, i guess just look for normal things that you would look for when buying a used vehicle. also i would try and pull off $2700 including TTL with that price, and not a penny more
