MEVI activation indicator

I am working on a design that I am not sure has been created yet. I know that many people complain about not knowing if their MEVI is completely open, questioning the quality of the RPM switch to consistently and effectively activate the acutator on the MEVI to open the butterfly plates.

My plan consist of illuminating an LED light (indicator) once the MEVI is completely open. So far the design is in rough draft and I haven't wired anything yet, it's 11:48PM, lol too late. I plan on wiring a power wire from the fuse box to the acutator arm. I then plan on wiring a second wire from the contact metal point where the acutator arm stops against, and run that wire inside the car behind the dash leading to the LED light. The ground wire will be fixed to somewhere inside the vehicle; the kick panel preferrable.

If any insights please reply in thread.

I think that's a good idea to be able to tell if it is working.

On a Harlan RPM switch, there is a LED light that does turn on when it is activated. You could get that and run a wire and extend the LED somewhere visible.

PROBLEM its never activated for very long so you have to be quick to see it

But anyway Just run LED off your RPM switch activation wires ..

Also if you just look at the light won't tell you if the arm actually moved (ie incase of vac issue)

The RPM switch always activates whenever it reaches the set rev limit. The summit RPM switch also has a light that turns green once the RPM has been reached. However from what I understand, people can't always tell if the acutator successfully opens completely and remains open, questioning the design quality that involves the RPM switch, solenoid, vacuum canister, and acutator. I will purchase the light and wiring material today and maybe try wiring it up; will post with updates.

This isn't an issue of the functionality of the RPM switch.

LOL exactly what I was trying to explain in my previous reply, but you answered it so much easier. Lesson learn, be more direct and not indirect and the message is clearly stated.
