I have 32K on the original brakes. Still plenty of material left. I recently developed a scraping noise from the passenger rear side. Just like the brake indicator was rubbing the disc. Took the tire off to check the pad. Seemed fine. Played with the indicator a bit, put the tier on and it was fine. Didn't act as if there was dirt in it. So I surmised maybe the parking brake mechanism was causing the pad to squeeze? Any report of the parking brake sticking on these cars?

Mine did. Same passenger side rear wheel as you. It got so bad that after a drive I could touch the rear wheel and it would be very warm. It sucked, made the car drag like a ****. I stopped using the e-brake to discourage it from happening. But one day my car rolled slightly down an incline Nothing happened, though. I promptly had it repaired after that.

isnt the e-brake an shoe horn type brake inside the rotors of the rear? in which case you would not be able to see the problem.

I think that would be the trick that would make most of us go for the repairs.

I think I'll spray the spring control with some WD40. Hopefully no big deal. Just though if it was a problem, I'd take it to the dealer to get fixed before the warranty is up.
