Anyone else has a 3.5 swap with oem 4th gen exhaust? I am using the 4th gen headers with wrapspeed y-pipe. stock cat and exhaust and wonder how much of a difference would a 2.5 catback make

i jus got a racing bullet muffler and that was a big difference. I bought it off EBay for 20 bucks! 2.5" inlet, 4" outlet. Sounds DOPE!!! Highly recommend. Jus make sure to get some exhaust hangers too.

Most restrictive part is the ypipe, which you replaced with a warpspeed unit. IIRC ajcool(i think thats his username) is running a stock catback on 3.5 swapped 4thgen.

Headers make a big difference if your 4th gen is a 99 because in that year the pre cats were placed in the headers

Where? I haven't noticed any... If so I'll buy 97-98 headers and screw the extra 02 sensor...

Thats 99 ONLY 99-2001 had the pre cats placed in the exhaust manifolds (headers) instead of the y pipes I am 90% positive on that.

if thats the case...aftermarket headers would be a great addition to a 99-2001

but for the most part the exhaust manifolds w/o pre cats aren't very restrictive

not terribly restrictive, but not great either. 5-10whp.

i dont think the gains with a aftermarket header would be all that great. But the SS in the engine bay wd look cool.

My girls 3.5 swap has the stock exhaust on it. We took it to the track and trapped 97mph the first run. Then we unbolted the stock exhaust on the next run and trapped 101mph. It made a huge difference.

Cali 99's have a precat in the front header and one in the Y pipe for the rear bank. I have purchased a Fed front manifold and a warpspeed Y pipe. All the 4th gens have the same rear manifold.

Thank you! I was just going to say that, I didn't feel like borrowing jack stands and taking pictures.

Now onto the 3.5 thing... If you have a 3.0 not too restrictive but anything heavily modded will need something more... They're 5.5gens that make noticeable gains on the track when they run a straight 3" pipe bolted to a test pipe, it's been argued a million times over in the 5th gen section but the results can't be denied... VQ35s <3 3 inch exhaust. I forgot in my first post that you were using a VQ35 and not a VQ30, so disregard my earlier post.
