so i ran over this video on youtube and this is how i want my maxima to sound. i dont like how it sounds with the y pipe. so i want to just use headers, stock y pipe, stock cat and catback exhaust. where can i find headers sold without a y pipe?

Equal Length Header/Y-Pipe + High Flowing catback = That sound
Stock Y pipe + High Flowing Catback = That sound
Cattman Header/Y Combo + High Flowing Catback = That sound
No other way to get it.

You can closely resemble that sound with just a catback system. The Greddy SP2 on it's own sounds good. I always like a smooth exhaust note, but sacrificing the gains you get from a y-pipe is shortsighted in my opinion and I would rather opt to get the entire exhaust replaced for both power and exhaust tone.
Most of us rather that too Bonka, but most of us don't have the money for it and rather just see the power.
You really need to take an hour or two out of your day and read the stickies on the 4th, 5th n 6th gen forums, learn about these cars and their differences.
And for the record you're wrong, there was a 5th gen with a stock Y-Pipe and a 2.5" pipe bolted to the end of it, no muffler, made nearly the same sound, I told you once, I'll say it again for the 3rd time today, that smooth wonderful VQ sound that Z's, G's, and such make all comes from an equal length exhaust collector (Headers+Y-Pipe in Maxima terms)

yeah i just like that smooth exhaust note. kinda reminds me of a vq35 240z i saw on youtube that had a straight pipe. but i dunno im still thinking about what to do about that exhaust. I have to change it soon cause its really rusted. when i bought it there was a huge hole in the y pipe and the mechanic just welded and piece of pipe in and told me it would only last a little while. so im just trying to decide what kinda setup i want in it. I aint putting back a stock system in there thats for dam sure.
