Questions, HELP

Are all your lights (seat belt, service engine soon and etc) suppose to turn on when your key is in the on position (before you start the car)? Because i noticed that all of them do come on, except one. Its like one of the middle ones, is this normal? or do i have a burnt out bulb or something

My second question is if an ODB II scanner will detect ghost codes such as KS code?

Also last but not least im getting horrible gas milegae, and yes i do realize that there are a bunch of threads on this subject already and i've tried pretty much tried all the advice/solutions on these threads yet my problem is still there. I've already changed my spark plugs (NGK iridiums), fuel filter, Knock Sensor, and just changed my oil (full synthetic). I also bought a fuel system cleaner a while back, i use premium fuel and check my tires frequently, any other suggestions? That is another reason why im curious about the ODB scanner because im hoping that it picks up a ghost code or soemthing that could possibly be causing my poor gas mileage.

All lights will come on except for 3 which are low fuel, door open, and low washer fluid.

OBD II Scanner does detect ghost codes like KS but not sure if it will help with your issue. If you have already changed what you stated, then the next thing I would check is your injectors and the cam sensor. OBD II does not detect faulty injectors but the cam sensor it does. It may be faulty but not faulty enough to send a code.

Hey Buddha - Injectors is best bet, after which look for leaks. However, where are you and what sort of driving ? I live in Nova Scotia CAN, with weather like Seattle or New England. Most driving is small town suburbs, rarely over 40mph, lots of stop signs. When in-town only I get about 15mpg - hwy goes up to 20 in Winter; summer is 20 city/ 30 hwy (still lots of big hills on hwy). Have you d-loaded FSM? There may be ideas there, too.
Good luck.
