VQ30DE

hy, to everybody!
Question: If I increase air flow to normally aspirated 3,0 V6 98' Maxima/Infiniti I30 (engine VQ30 DE) as removing the front headlight and puting instead straight pipe , do I also have to increase fuel injecting also(bigger injectors, SAFC II ) or is it enough just use straight pipe? Is that the risk for engine : pistons, valves?
Can anybody enlighten me?
I plan to try this comb in track not in everyday driving!
Thanks!

No you do not need larger injectors and if you keep the same size MAF you do not need any tuning

Thanks!
What you reckon, how much hp. it will give me, aproximentaly, cause the bigger the speed the more air it presses in thru the headers, wright?

the car will start just fine without a filter...

Removing the headlight like some cars do is pointless however. Our filters aren't blocked closely by the headlight like they are in some cars.

No you will not need injectors for anything NA.

What you wouyld suggest to get my car faster in !/4 mile?
I have already Y-pipe, B-pipe and high flow dry panel filter?
Pipe diameter is 2,5 inch. I thought I put straight pipe like it is in this link
http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-Maxi...lip-14113.html
it gives me some gain. Cause this car has also headers replaced, mine is standard.

Buy a motorcycle! If I REALLLLY want to go faster, I plan on getting an R1 or Gixxer1000. As far as bang for the buck and shaving a second off the 1/4mile, the thousands of dollars spent might as well be spent on buying a two wheeled demon. I am not into motorcycles myself(I am a bicyclist-I use my legs, not a motor), but realistically speaking, modding my DD and worrying about the problems associated with taking the max to non-NA and such are just not worth it(reliability issues and finding the perfect mechanic worry me)-plus never recouping the $$$. Put that money in an IRA!!!

I see the MAX as a great bang for the buck as a DD with performance greater than a NA-4banger and giving better MPG's than a V-8 which just isn't practical if you drive ALL the time like I do. My roommate has a SVT ford lightning(supercharged V-8) which is crazy fast and fun to drive, but he doesn't drive it except 3-5 times a month b/c he commutes 40miles a day. He drives a BUSTED Mazda 3, which he purchased for $600 and has put about $1500 into to keep running.

He makes fun of the max, but for quantity of times I get to take the MAX to redline(daily) and doing it with good MPG overall, I just don't see beating the 3.0 V6. I've got 18" chrome rims that must weigh 40+lbs each, so my 1/4 mile time must be way off----but i dont care, hopping on the interstate->if i want to blast past someone with my 5speed, I can!

Don't put all that $$ into the max you will never get back, get other toys which will get you the speed plus some you desire. just my .02cents.

All that writing to say nothing?

I hear different results about replacing the header. Some say that there is almost no gain on a max. What have been dynamometer proven to give power is an 00vi.

Try the intake pipe if you want, I don't believe you'll see any difference though. It's not expensive to try though.

An 00vi, JWT ECU or Emanage Ultimate, and headers is what I'd suggest if you were in the US, but you'd have to do some research to find out if the JWT ECU would work in your car being as it's an overseas model.

Drag slicks would be the biggest thing you can do for your 1/4 mile times though.

I just don't understand the people who put all that money into their max for 1 or 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile sacrificing reliability and making best friends with your mechanic, when the car is kick a$s already. I am interested in the 00vi intake manifold, but even then my current intake barely clears my Stillen Sway bar as it is...

It's called being an enthusiast. The Maxima is a great car for what it is, a semi luxury/sport sedan, but it still leaves much to be desired. Being an enthusiast is about making our cars better than stock. As far as reliability goes, dont cheap out and you should be ok, but you cant make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
