i haven't done it with mine but i've done it for friends in their rides...it works out pretty well...easy to get to and maintain....i personally would rather have it mounted in the trunk somwhere

i did! i have 95 max and got rf800x4 under the passenger seat. had no way to secure the amp so i drill a hole through the bottom and use sheetrock anchor and screw then silicon sealed it. it's cool because u have the air vent down there. keep amp cool.

Your better off putting it in the trunk unless you are limited on space... such as a Jeep. Its neater and easier to make adjusments in the trunk. This is just my own opinion. In the shop i use to work at, we mounted all in trunk unless there was limited space or it was a customer request.

reason why i mounted my amp under the seat is because it has an air vent and also in my opinion it would be harder to steal. i always play my music loud, so as a result people will notice that i have something in my ride and they want to take a chance and jack my sh*t. first place they will go is the trunk. haha no amp there! "oh sh*t, and the alarm is going off!" get my pix?!!?

I didn't know there was an air vent under the seats..

Hey yellowbrother...are you talking the Rockford Fosgate punch 800a4? It fit under your seat? That things huge! What do you have it running? I'm keeping my stock bose system and adding a 10"rfp1410 with a rf2.6x amp (120x1 rms)....I've got an eq.that i'll put in the storage compartment under the bose deck so I can adjust it/ turn it off etc.

Yes it works fine. I have my amp for my nids and highs under my passenger and it works just fine. Its a lot easier to run the wires from there instead of the trunk. My2cents

If you don't have the power driver's seat you could actually use both.... never had a heat problem with my amps, but I'm not really pushing them very hard! (80W - 90W rms per channel and I don't listen at excessive volumes)

I have an Alpine V12 amp underneath the passenger seat on my Max, as mentioned makes wiring front components much easier. However to really adjust the crossover, gains, etc on this unit I have to unbolt the seat! This is somewhat of a pain as I am constantly tweaking my system.

I also have two more Alpine amps bolted to the back of the rear passenger seat in the trunk for the rear speakers and subs. This realy cuts down on the wire runs (length and $$) which is a big bonus. I have these mounted so that the amp controls point inwards towards the pass thru. I can just drop the armrest and adjust these at will. Great for playing with the gain and crossover on my sub.

....

What type of amp is it? I'd suggest you run the amp for a good couple of hours of heavy playing before you finalize your decision of putting it under the seat. There's no problem in doing that if it's running at a good ohm load (ie, keeps cool).

If you're running a fosgate amp that's putting out a lot of power (ie, powering subs), then you're gonna be melting your seat. If you're powering the interiors with it, chances are it'll be fairly cool, and then mounting it under a seat is fine. Give it the burner test =) 3 hours, if you can still touch it and not burn yourself, then chuck it under the seat. Just make sure everythings good before you finish the install. You wouldn't want to remove the seat, bolt it down, replace the seat, then find out somethings not working hehe.

good spot

i have a good spot for u... i put it on the roof of my trunk, like where the factory speaker magnets are...its a well hidden spot which is not visible when the trunnk is open...it took a while t get it up there and still get the trunik to clse but its worth it for security and aesthetics

A\D\S amps are perfect for under seat locations.

It really depends how hot your amp runs.

yep that's the amp i have! u r correct sir, the whole amp is too long to fit under the passenger seat. so i had to accomodate. the two cover that is on side of the amp to cover the wiring, i took those off for the amp to fit. i am running off of the bose head unit. the first channel i am using to push my 6 1/2 premiere component set. the second channel is being used to push my two rear factory bose speaker. and the third and fourth channels are bridge to run my one 15 inch kicker solo-baric. this sound pretty cool. haven't had any problem with the amp getting too hot to leave a burnt spot on the carpet yet. so far so good. no prob. these are the advantages of putting ur amp in front: theft(most importantly), air vent, shorter power cable, shorter rca, shorter speaker wires. with shorter wires it reduces ur chances of picking up engines noise and road noise. if done correctly and neatly it will look very clean.
