I have a Black '97 and had been thinking about removing the badges, front and back, painting them black and reinstalling. Has anybody tried this. I have seen a black 5th gen with stock black badges and thought it looked pretty good.

I'm going to paint mine in a gunmetal color if I can find a paint I like... so far I haven't found a good color though.

 

Dave B took all his off and painted the "X" black and put that back on his car above the right tail lamp, looks good. smoked lenses, black car, black X.
