Another Noob Question

Another noob question....How can you tell if your automatic transmission went out? While I was driving my car started having to go to high rpm's to shift....and when it shifts it shifts hard....I really cant tell if the transmission went out or it was maybe a belt....For some reason I feel like it might be a belt....I know you guys might ask for more info but this all happened like 5 minutes ago.....any info would help...THANKS!

speaking of tranny, how easy is it to change the tranny fluid yourself and where does it drain from?? Perhaps the OP should try that..

I'm thinking you transmission solenoid burned out or your transmission is slipping

dude, check your fluid level and color. also, smell it and if its not reddish in color and/or smells like its burnt i would look into maybe changing it. no belts gonna cause high rpm's, more than likely what other op said or torque converter is on its way out.

So i left this detail out. Prior to that sometimes I would get a shake in the car at stops while in D....I got Jess from the AMD(Atlanta Maxima Drivers) to help me out and come look at it todat(granted all this happened last night) So last night when I finally pulled in the car was working but had this issue. She believed it had something to do with the MAF and the over all air flow to the engine. So this afternoon when we turned the car and tried to apply gas the car died each time. We realized that the STUPID *** previous owner did a ****ty job repairing the air tube that goes from the air box to the engine and it was broken at the air box and cracked a little at the engine side. So pretty much we concluded that the issue is i need to replace the air intake.

To Be Continued....Lol
