The USDM 300ZX TT uses the VG30DETT, its not a JDM only engine.

... if you put the engine and trans from the 300ZX TT - (obviously not transverse mounting) - swap the rear for the one from the 280ZX t (R200 - with 4:10.9 gears)...

Then you'll have what the Maxima should have been all along - RWD and totally bad aXX...

VG is not the same as VQ.

the manifolds WILL BOLT UP, Nissan didnt change much from the VG30DE VQ30 and VQ35.

we have a pair of AMS VG30DETT manifold and we bolt them right up with the VQ30DE and my VQ35DE.

they will BOLT up , as for making it work , that all depends if the rear firewall has enough space to clear a t25/28 turbos.

to the OP question is YES they will BOLT up. will it work ? that depends on your fabrcator.

if your refering to my statement ?

a bolt on manifold will work , so you telling me you dont need to fab a downpipe ?

No Ive done this in the garage at the house,

Ask Tj max, streetzlegend, and few others whos been by the house and seen it for themself, we have a AMS turbo manifold for my buddy TTZ.

hes waiting to pull the engine out and swap turbos, while the manifolds are in my hands..

we mock them up on the VQ30, and VQ35DE.

ports all matched, only differnt in the VQ is the intake lower ports are differnt.

Nissan didnt change much, but there are little things, the VQ series is basically a VG motor but improve in some areas and made of alum.
k.

correct,

also if you guys look at the exhuast side , those bolts can be taken out,

on the head , you can acutally take the bolts out and re-config them as there is holes on all 4 sides of each port.

my plan was to use the stock vg30det's manifold and mount it to the front side of the motor, so itll look kind of similar how a hondas turbo setup would be. My friend said he was going to fab the welding and just use the existing y-pipe as part of the downpipe. So now that i got a YES to as it will bold up for for the vq30, ( THANK YOU NiZMo1o1 ), I am going to try and continue with the experiment. Ill post some pics so you guys can get the idea of which side of the turbo manifold im using and which turbo im planning to mount with it.

Alot of 350z guys only stay on their fourms and now I notice a few are crossing over and seeing what the maxima guys has been doing for AGES.

Alot of Maxima guys are crossing over as well,

But no one seems to research the root of the VQ motors, how renault bailed out Nissan in the 90s (yadda yadda yadda), how basically the VQ is a revise VG but improved.

I do business with people oversears like the Aussie and NZ and the UK.

The guys downunder has been building VQ30DE-T motors and experimenting VGs/ VQs for ages, we are 10 years behind.

I dont usually mossy into the 4th gen section because everyone is a expert at something, so I keep my 2cents.

The point being is there is ALOT to learn if they research out of the box and see what other model cars and overseas are doing.

Alot of ppl just follow the crowd and in doing so just only goes by what the other guy did and goes by that.

Now to the OP yes the manifold fits, I had this mocked up on VQ motors BUT also remember this , I did NOT have the motor mounts, I just test fitted AMS manifold from a z32 onto the VQs

Hmmm, Looks like there's going to be some fitting issues. Engine mounts and probably the intermediate axle shaft is going to cause problems.

Like I said before , the only issue is the motor mounts location, there are ways around it as long as you know how to weld and fab a few things around

fabbing and welding is a must especially on a v6. The only reason a full turbo kit costs so much is because of the design and how difficult it was for them to make it fit on our motors perfectly. If our motor design / engine bay design were like honda civics, the turbo setup would be super cheap, there setup is as easy as putting in full bolt-ons, pretty much like a repeat. I had a couple hondas and did builds on them and even on my mr2 turbo it wasnt this difficult. The maxima is a total different story, first time trying to work on a v6 and boosting it. hopefully it comes out okay

Yeah, I ran into the same problem with my VQ30DET manifolds - ended up building a custom front motor mount which wasn't too much drama. What about the axle though? Does it clear?
