taking advise from 4th gen owners

i have a 4th gen with 170k miles. white on tan SE that i have had for over 4 years. I need a change and here is what I am thinking. so ill just poor it all out and take in all suggestions.

1. LS2 GTO 15-18k low 13s stock 400hp

2. LS1 Camaro 8-12k high 13s stock 340hp

3. G35 coupe or sedan 10-17k low 14s stock 280hp

4. 3.5 swap the maxima ?????? 260?hp

5. 00vi, jwt ecu, Stillen v1 the 3.0 and run it till it scatters then 3.5 swap.
??????? ?????hp
I am ok with keeping the FWD as i have a side project to slide around on, but the power im making now isnt enough to keep my inner racer at bay. how much in your opinions, is enough power in a maxima to make it not boring.

Option 5 will kill ur car. I like the GTO or Camaro bc they are cooler than any Nissan or Infinity.

This thread makes my head hurt, if you dont want to 3.5 swap then go hang out in the other cars subforum. If i could have found a decent maxima for sale when i sold mine i would have stayed.

Personally I'd take the M56 over the GTO.

How much different is the mounting bracket for a v1 on a 3.5 rather that a 3.0

Your first 3 options are in another ball park from your 4th gen.

So what are you really after?

Performance/raw power?
Fun to drive every day car?

I don't need a toy. I need a car that can get beat on every day and still run the next. That's why I listed all VQ and LS motors. I don't hate my maxima but I do hate it after driving my buddies G for a couple months.

Can you pay cash for any of the alternatives you presented? If not, how much cash do you have? If you have to finance a big chunk of any cars, suck it up and admit that you can't afford any of them and keep the one you have.

Personally I would opt for the G35 as I would sell an American car if it was given to me.

stay with nissan...G35 is dope.

my next car will be either the 05 max MT or G35 w/ MT. I got a taste for v6 power 5 spd. cant drive nothing else.

Plus after owning a max, i cant see myself driving a altima SE-R. They good, but if u have had a max cant go down to altima

Either a G or 3.5 swap the max. If your planning on racing alot dont get a G. My girls car beat up on them all day.

Im thinking ill do all i can that will swap over to the 3.5 when i swap. thats why i asked about the v1 bracket from 3.0 to 3.5 swaping. im getting some bodywork and my exhaust done before all of this if i keep the maxima. big brakes, exhaust, and 00vi are coming this week. if i still like the car after driving it with new brakes and 40 more hp, then ill do the motor swap or boost the 3.0.

I'm doing #5 in route to a 3.5 swap, I'm putting on parts for my future 3.5 on my 3L, and running the 3L into the ground. I currently have around 178k.

no one knows if the v1 bracket works on both 3.0 and 3.5?. id love to just run my motor to death at 6psi and then throw in the 3.5 with the same blower and kit.

I think you need the timing system from the 3.0 to run a 3.5. Its doable.

Some of us actually care about how cheap the interior doesn't look, the Altima just has that teenager car feel to it... For example, I don't like Imprezas for their crappy interiors... Now the Legacy.... mmmmmm.

If you don't care for interior looks then by all means, go alti, or hell Sentra... For straight up performance out of a sedan, there are many other in house (Nissan) options. I chose the Maxima since I only rely solely on performance less than 10% of the time... Yet that >10% is f'ng awesome... and where 80% of the car related funds go to

M45 is wicked expensive. But if u got the cash then spend it I guess. With today fuel prices i cant see myslef gettin a v8 and averaging less thn 20 mpg highway. GTOs are fast and i have seen some 5.7L 6 spd MT for like 14k bucks and low miles. But that gas mileage in the long run make the car like 20k bucks. My boy had a v8 alero back in the day and was at the pump every day! IMO a v8 cannot be yur daily driver. Gas mileage too bad.

I looked at acuras and they all high end power and revy, no low end. Although 200+ ft-lbs of torque not bad at all. When i did my research, both infinit and nissan had better torque ratings than any same year honda, acura, or bmw when equipped with v6 MT. (i dont like audi, subaru, lexus or mitsubishi )

For me, the only stepup from a 4th gen is the 5.5 or 6th gen maxi or g35. SE-R is ok, but i cant see myself owing an altima UNLESS that was the only v6 MT i could find for the money and mileage.

L2 powered vehicles (GTO) are known to get 26+ highway.... i got 27.5 over a 400 mile trip a few weeks ago on the maxima. I have descided to keep the maxima for now untill , unless, a steal on a G sedan or coupe 03-05 pre rev up. Now, while i have your attention. 00vi swap jwt ecu, or keep saving for 3.5 swap. 3.5 swap sounds like the better option but i dont know if i wanna go through that hastle yet.

dont you wind up making less than 250hp with the 3.5 since you have to change so much with the way the ecu runs the motor. im seeing V1 kits everywhere for 1800 to 2200 and that would put more than that at the wheels unless i am mistaken on boost hp math. vq35 swap vs stillen v1 kit. power to money. whats the better option.

From the numbering and figures involved, it seems OP puts a lot on HP and 1/4 mile times. To that end, #1 is best choice.

OK. final options came in. not taking on another car payment for another few years. i have roughly 800 to spend this week and a little more later this month. I think im gonna do VAFC-2 00vi custommaxima brand catback (the evo2 knockoff) and z32 brake kit. If it will last another year, a small loan is in order to do a 3.5 swap. anyone have any numbers on how much the 3.5 swap costs roughly? and were my numbers right? less than 250 hp at the flywheel after having to downgrade the 3.5 to work in a 4th gen?

Yo sqweaky u gotta do a SEARCH. the 3.5 swap and options have been covered many times. Good info too

I dont wanna get into a long speech about F/I or 3.5L swap. Its in the previous threads. Save your money for as long as u can and buy somethin newer when the yur current max gives out. UNLESS u got the knowledge or help to do the work urself u looking at minimum of 2000 bucks to do work. Hell a used supercharger is 3000 bucks. someone on the org was sellin one a way back.
