front spark plug disaster

my dad showed up at my house saying he had some car trouble. we opened the hood and there was oil on the front valve cover. long story short, when i took of the middle coil it was torn torn right at the boot. the spark plug was unscrewed and touching the top of the coil with oil all over it. everything is cleaned up, tried to put another spark plug but it only turns 3-4 times. the first few threads on the original plug is messed up so my gues is that the threads on the head is messed up as well. can anything be done to fix that or does the whole thing need to be replaced?

ya what you do is drill out the hole and screw in a new insert

they actually show pictures of it at the front of any chiltons manual.

But be careful to not get any crap in the hole! Its like your girlfriend if you accidentally dropped something or left something in her hole, its OVER!

Which is why you use protection, by making sure you cover your tools or the hole before you begin to drill that hole, gently but hard.

i would chase the threads first, just to see if the hole can be cleaned up, before retapping.
then if you retap that hole, use "vaseline' ON THE TAP TO CATCH as much metal as possible
it works.
