Bottom engine covers.

Bottom engine covers.
Slowly but surely the protective bottom covers have started to drag and I have been taking them off over the years. Should I goto a junk yard and get a replacement or should I just let it be. The only thing I am worried about is when it rains.

I haven't had mine for a few years now. I have been thinking of rigging something up so they stay up or make it out of more sturdy material. But I haven't noticed anything different performance wise with the car not having them on.

i had assumed they were simply to keep dust and water and other crap from getting into your engine bay and screwing anything up. ive had to cut one off during a road trip at a rest stop, completely forgot about it until now. no change in anything though.
that last piece that you took off though looks to have some sort of duct work, maybe for intake or something. could have some importance so i might replace that one.

Those splash shields are very important for wet conditions. Rest assured if you go without them, you will be giving yourself an expense which will cost you your A/C compressor. Once water touches that bearing, its over...and anyone here will tell you that they are not cheap. Trust me, I paid the price and went and got mines back OEM. Paid $56 which is way better than $300 for a compressor.
