The lip thread...

Out of all other things ive notcied there is only a small selection when it comes to lips for a maxima. Well today while i was at the junkyard i was wondering if any other lip would fit my maxima. I ended up purchasing a integra da front lip for a dollar, and to my surprise fits pretty good. Its wider than the 97 style maxima bumper but with some stretching out it fits nice. I will have pictures up soon camera sucks/broken. If you know of any other lips that would fit a maxima post them here, and pics would be nice if possible.

Best part is the lip is mounted, as in its screwed on instead of taped on like the home depot lips.

Looks really good except for the screw, looks kinda ghetto. Was there no other spots to screw it in?

I think that when looking at 'Non-Maxima' lips to fit our cars we need a measurement of 'overall length' from wheel opening, around front, to wheel opening. Then when at a salvage yard a simple measurement could be made to know if a particular cars lip is going to reach all the way around.

Oh! This is irrelevant but I noticed that the shape of the 97 Altima's fog lights are very similar to the shape of my Maxima which is also a 97.

But yeah just throwing that out there!

Appreciated. And what im trying to portray with my car is something different even maxima.org people havent seen. Im trying to be one of a kind instead of following the crowd. But anyways yeah the lip does not fit completly but the reason for the thread was to help find other lips that fit our cars instead of paying 100+ for an aftermarket one. I tryed the da one and im going to complete it if anyone else is up post what you find fits on this thread.

Any other ideas (besides the HD one) and why can't anyone make a simple aftermarket one? There's tons of cheap aftermarket ones for the Hondas/Acuras and 350Zs.

Ok, I'm still thinking on this .. what if you cut the ends to a angle up to the car - so it wouldn't just jut down from some 'random' place in front of the tire, but rather smoothly become the lip for the front of the car?

i actually think it looks great from the front. i'm very impressed. its just a problem from the side. hopefully your home depot run can make it a little smoother of a transition at the ends. and unless your close you cant even really see the screw so i dont see it as a huge problem unless your inspecting it

very creative and abstract.... but the fogs keep pulling my eyes away. I'd like to see it in the end, but dont cut your bumper like someone said above, the fender mudguard is attached to that and that would have to get cut too.

+1 for angling up to the car, if possible. cuz it might be pretty hard to blend with the new home depot lip. and my friend kiyo had a 94 toyota corolla and did the whole lip home depot style and it turned out nice. like really nice. he faded it up tho i think.. haha. but seriously tho.. looks decent.. oh and if u were lookin 4 new fogs, look at these. Theyre a lil pricey but u can probly find them cheaper somewhere else.

BTW, was the lip off a 90-91 or 92-93 DA? Apparently, the bumpers changed a bit between years. Also, besides the end screw how is the front held on?

The front is bolted on underneath, because it was an oem lip it has mounting points. So i used those, and the side screw is pulling the lip back to mold to the 4th gen bumper the da is wider than the maxima believe it or not. The lip is a hard rubber so it will bend and stretch.

You know what your end product turned out very nice! The screw can only be seen up close anyway do you think you could use 3M tape to hold it on? Anyway good nice little mod.

Thanks and theres no way tape will hold this lip on. Anyone who attempts it will soon figure out why that screw is there. Its not a halfa** lazy way of putting my lip on. There is nothing, and trust me nothing else that will get the lip to curve to the form of the maxima bumper. 3m tape didnt even work on my home depot lip it kept falling off. Imo tape should not be used on any car.

Did you use the 3M adhesive promoter first? My roof spoiler is held on with the 3M tape, but I used the 3M adhesive promoter first. Its not going anywhere.
