HELP Rebuilding My Max (BUMPER/FRONT END Question)

Many of you guys may know that I wrecked my Max like 2 weeks ago. Now I'm in the process of putting it back together and I have some questions bout the Front End.

So I've been going to the junk yards getting parts here and there. I found a hood on a 96 and the headlights and grille from the same 96, but I found the bumper cover of a 97-99 Max with the fog lights and I wanted to know if I have to find the frame from a 97-99 Max or would one from a 95-96 work because that's all I'm able to find.

The 95-96 frame has a bumper cover with the fog lights but I like the look of the 97-99 more. That's all I need to get from the yard to get my car back on the road . I found all the parts in the same exact color so a paint job work be needed yet.

So I basically said all that to ask if the frame from a 95-96 work with a cover from a 97-99 or would it all have to be the same year?!? And would the bumper cover from the 97-99 work with the grille and headlights from the 96 without me have to do much to no fabrication?!?

the 97-99 bumper should mount right up minus some stupid tab on the bottom of the 96 headlights, or so im told, the frame is the same, hopefully youre using a new rad support if not you better check the one you got thoroughly because they are a b**ch to change to begin with nevermind if its starting to rot your gonna end up havin a problem

First: Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope the rebuild goes well.

Second: I'm pretty sure there are posts here on the org explain how to do the 95-96 to 97-99 conversion, so I think you should be able to go ahead and change your bumper.
If I remember correctly* that is.
Edit: Scroll down the the section that says "Exterior". 4th Gen How-To
Third: Headlights are matched to 95-96 or 97-99 bumpers. So I think you might have to get specific headlights. Not sure. I'll have to look that up myself too.

Thanks you guys.....from the look of things, Maxi should be back on the road by the end of next week.

And I'm not doing a conversion, I'm just trying to figure out if I can use parts from different year Maximas or just stick to a certain year (95-96 or 97-99). From the sound of things I should good getting parts from the different Maximas YES

So this morning I go to the junkyard to buy the frame and the bumper cover and ended up getting out of there with a deal........I got the bumper cover, bumper frame, bumper lights, aftermarket foglights, the middle bar in the radiator support and 2 HID Converstion Box (headlights and fog lights) with what seems to be all the wiring (HOPEFULLY I WORKS) for $40. ORLANDO JUNKYARDS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow you got all of that for $40. sh%t I need to come shop there. LOL but to answer your question, yes you can use the parts from any 4th gen on your car. if you want to change the front bumper to the later model you will have to use the head lights and the grill from the later model also. not to say it wont work but it will not line up properly. so yes you can use the 97 bumper but i recomend using the head lights and grill from the 97 as well.

Does that mean the 95-96 and 97-99 grilles are not interchangeable? I like the 95-96 and was thinking of swapping it.

It's on the East side of Orlando going to Titusville. My mechanic takes me there, but I think we only get deals like that because he been going there for almost 7 years and he knows the owner well.

By the way here is a before and after pic.......Car is coming along great and faster than I expected. I couldn't get my 97 bumper cover so I'm stuck with the 96 ....Hopefully I can find the right bumper by the end of August so I can go back to Tallahassee with my car the way I left.

salvage yard near my place charges $70 for just the bumper cover but you get $20 back if you give them the core.

EDIT: plus tax

Grills are different not interchangeable, you can trim a 97-99 grill to fit a 95-96 bumper but as far as 95-96 grill on a 97-99 bumper you will have a huge gap under where the bumper meets the grill on both ends. But if you dont mind the gap then they will both fit what ever bumper you go with.

No, I do mind the gap, and I don't like the 95-96 bumper. Oh well, it was just a thought. Thanks for the advice.
