that person is me. i have a 97 infiniti i30 with a 2/97 production date. here's the thread in the classifieds section. http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...30-2-97-a.html

most places that i visited, listed compressor to or from a specific model/year. no hard feelings, phantom, i'm just trying to figure it out.

There are three compressors IIRC

95-96, 97-98, 99-01.

The exact build dates are where things get fuzzy, I listed them on here somewhere in another thread...

ALL of the compressors will fit onto the motor, but the A/C lines wont =p

My old 1996 built in 6/96 had different compressor fittings than my 1996 built in 7/95.

Just tried going the ORielly's (cheap) way and replace my compressor. They had 2 listed in their system both were wrong. Granted, I have a 97 I30.
The first compressors problem was that the section on the compressor where you bolt on the lines wasnt at enough of an angle, so when I had the compressor bolted on the suction line wouldnt go on.
Replaced it with another one that they said was the correct model for my 07/96 production date... Didnt fit either. The ports on the compressor were too small for the refrigerant line to go into. Returned it and got my money back.
The guy at ORiellys said, "Oh youre supposed to get that from the dealership."
Why carry them at ORiellys in the first place if they wont work?!
