Last night on 35W south in Minneapolis my max got totalled. no one was injured though, thank god. I wanna ask those with experience whether or not the insurance company will consider my aftermarket rims, bodykit, ect when they look at my car/wreck? The spoiler is still intact, can I go salvage that? thanks for the advise.

Sorry to hear

Dont't know about your insurance company or coverage, but mine has a crappy policy about this sort of thing. It goes something like - take the car, flip it upside down, and anything that can fall out is not covered (read like: include anything aftermarket). Sucks man, but hey as long as no one was killed. What happened exactly.

Were you found at fault?

If you were not at fault they tend to be nicer when dealing with extras. When some dork totaled my 97 Max, they didnt take into account that I got a REALLY good deal on the car because I knew the dealer, they gave me the "replacement cost" Whatever you do, NEVER take their first offer, once they went out and looked at what the cars were going for in the area, I was given over a grand more than I paid for my car, and they included the tinted windows into the mix. Good luck!!

Re: Were you found at fault?

well it was a single car accident in the rain. I'm not sure how they'll take it. But you say not to take the first offer? then just tell them to look at the costs of cars in the area? I'll remember to try that out. I hope they don't say that the car can be fixed for like $10 grand or something.

if the price of the repair is 80% of the market value, the insurance co. usually repair it. if over 80% it is consider total loss. got this information from a body shop.

This just happened to my girlfriend

The insurance adjuster comes out and throws $2800 her way. We take it to my friend who has a body shop and he gets the insurance company to come back out. I guess it happens all the time. The second guy added another $1600 to the appraisal. So it was up to $4400, he charged her $3800 to fix it and let her keep the rest. Now I realize thats an extreme situation, but you can get more out of them for sure. Go for it.
