Maybe try this thread you brought back from the dead? That might be a good place to start. A key piece of info is only a few posts up.

Yea it was an older problem, I just got my 3'' warpspeed y-pipe a few weeks ago ( Yea they make a 2'' in to 3'' y-pipe) And on my 4th gen i had a warpspeed y-pipe for 3 winter dropped to the floor plowing snow and flex stayed intaced. Friend of mine owns car now for a year and y-pipe is still fine

For everyone who had problems with their warpspeed, how long did they typically last (mileage/time) before they started having problems?

The pipes will last indefinitely barring hitting something with it and damaging it. The flex section is the only thing that has a lifespan on it but even that is hard to say. All about usage and probably how low your car is and thus how often it scrapes. A nice flex section lasts a long time

All flex sections fail.

Flex sections move, thats what they are designed to do, and they become brittle and fray and break. Its not a big deal to replace one so don't worry about it. As long as you get a good quality stainless steel piping for your Y and a good flex section you might could get one custom done for cheaper. Not a ton of Cattman Y-pipes for a 4th gen for sale anyways. Some people swear by Cattman, I have a Cattman, but all it is is a good quality y it doesnt possess magical powers lol

Go to a reputable private muffler shop, not Meineke or a chain store, and get them to give you a price on it. Make sure they don't crush bend their pipes and get an idea. The Ebay y-pipe is fine really but I was just worried about the quality of the welds and the quality of the piping. Custom might be your best bet in this economy because they are struggling like everyone else. Don't take the first estimate they give you either. Someone who has actually had one made could give you a better idea of a good price on that

LOLZ When I saw this thread title I was like "yes someone asked it!!"

I am in the process of deciding as well...I recently found I have a fed-spec 99 and am unsure if the 150 dollar price difference btwn warpspeed and cattman is worth it...not much harshness to Seattle winters, and no plans for any drop more than 2", so I'm leaning towards saving the 150 and getting a warp
