a simple intake would be nice. also depends on how much your willing to spend. springs/shocks for suspension.
intake/muffler for performance.

You're lookin at about 3G's for a supercharger, however, there's a guy sellin one on the parts for sale forum for 2500. The first mod i would do to the Max would be some suspension upgrades. The Max is already capable car performance wise. Tunning your suspension would give you an even greater advantage over these other pathetic automobiles.

Without a doubt, FSTB. It's the last thing I did, because I am dumb, but for $40 it makes a huge difference.

FSTB

And maybe an RSB as a combo for suspension..

As for engine, I'd go with a intake.

If you've got the cash and it's a new max, throw a supercharger in it =)

1 - brake pads, front and rear
2 - SS brake lines
3 - DOT 4 brake fluid
4 - JWT POP charger
5 - STillen RSB
6 - Stillen FSTB
7 - air horns. stock horns sounds like a wuss
8 - from here you've got plenty of choices.

People always forget about the brakes and suspension. Everyone wants power, power, power! but they forget how ****ty the NIssan brakes are and how un-sporty the suspension is.

RSB and FSTB?

Yeah are those those sway bar things? How much is the RSB? The FSTB is like 50, right?

Also i never even thought of a horn. Where do you get those? What kind is best, how much, etc?

If you want to go on the exaust end definetly get a ypipe. It is the biggest bang for the buck on exaust and on the car in a whole. Also if you combine that with a CAI you will have tons of power. But if you are just starting out make your car better to drive with the FSTB and RSB combo. You can find the FSTB for 35 and the RSB for like 135. That is really not expensive for the huge increase in handling performance. Also I have heard that a 300zx Brake Kit is a very nice addition to the max. The only problem is the rotors won't fit unless you aftermarket rims. Like 17"s at the least.

Maxima rear sway bar:
<img src="http://www.cyberhosts.net/~gotrice/products/stillen/maxsway03.jpg">
not the greatest picture, though. This goes under the car.

Maxima front strut tower brace:
<img src="http://www.cyberhosts.net/~gotrice/products/stillen/maxfstb02.jpg">
This goes across the two front strut towers in the engine bay.

I don't know what other brands sell for, but the Stillen units aren't that inexpensive. Stillen uses cadmium plated brackets along with stronger aluminum braces for their strut tower braces. Their rear sway bar are adjustable.

try http://www.opt-auto.com for the Hella air horns. They're about $30-40

What SmoothMax said.-

Go for the suspension fine tuning.
The powertrain is really outstanding out of the box.
The FSTB and RSB are essential.
The stock car really has too much power for the stock suspension set up to handle adequately.
Wheels make it stick like glue.
All this and the car will still feel like a luxury sedan.

mods

wheels and rims, tires, lowering springs, struts, shocks, body kit.first. then performance things, and brakes. piaa's are nice too. i did it the other way around performance stuff first. but i want my car to look awesome, plus it cost less. oh yea, if u have a stick, a short throw shifter from stillen ,is a best bet. no more elbow against the armrest, or what ever that thing doesn't do.(i wish it was a decsent armrest.)

SAFETY BEFORE SPEED

MODIFY SUSPENSION (FSTB/RSB/SPRING/SHOCKS)BEFORE YOU MAKE THE CAR GO FASTER. I HEARD THIS FROM AN OLD RACE ENGINEER...IF YOU CAN OUT MANUEVER OTHERS YOU CAN WIN IN A TANGLE...ADD THAT WITH MORE POWER...YOU CAN TANGO...
ONE STEP AT A TIME BUDDY...

FSTB

Get an FSTB you can snag one at a good price, it was my first mod. It helps you it curves when racing.
If you want hp get a cai, or a y-pipe but I dont recomend the y-pipe without the cai

The first mod I would recommend would be a FSTB but the brand doesn't matter as long as you have one. I wouldn't buy a RSB because I've heard that there isn't a big improvement in handling. If you've got extra cash get a new suspension or rims.

A RSB (rear sway bar) is great, it's probably the RSTB (rear strut tower brace) that you are thinking about. The RSB goes under the rear axle and prevents you from swaying in corners. The RSTB goes in the trunk and stiffens the rear suspension, which should already be stiff because of the rear deck and rear seats being used as reinforcement.
I highly recommend the RSB, get one.
