What's an alternative or supplement to Y-pipe Ring gaskets?

Y pipe is leaking again...Dealer is closed and last time I bought these rings gaskets from autozone/kragen/pepboys they were too small. They sit flush inside the flange and didnt really seal much.

What else can I do to make the seal higher on the flange?

I picked up a brand I haven't tried before, Rol, and they seem thicker. I just removed the y pipe and the Felpro ring gaskets on there are flush with the flange...pretty pathetic.

The flex section looks good. The other thing to try is see if it still flexes or whether it has become brittle. Constant heating and cooling will take flexability out of the metal.

Yep, thanks guys.

The new brand, for me, of Rol gasket rings were MUCH thicker. Advice to those changing them in the future, avoid Felpro for gasket rings.

Car moves good now, less lag. Plus i drilled out that snapped stud on the header and replaced all exhaust bolts.

I keep a stock of y-pipe gaskets that way when I need them I don't have to wait. I have a pair of Felpro and several pairs from Napa that I believe to be there brand. The Felpro are indeed smaller in diameter and not as thick. I have used them before on a stock y-pipe with no issues though.
What brand y-pipe do you have? I'm thinking the aftermarket y-pipes have a thicker flange.

Just an update for those wondering...

I can definitely feel a difference in my low end power. It's so easy to get to 40mph now. Before, when I had the ****ty Felpro gaskets, it would take about 35% throttle to get up to 40mph. Now, its like 18% throttle. (according the my vafcII) Its crazy how much hp that leak was robbing.

So check your exhaust for leaks if you feel your car is sluggish before 3k rpms.

these are ring gaskets? they gave you a good seal?

I would prefer a flat gasket... also because my headers dont have a grove to hold the ring gasket to be centered. will this still work?

Red, huh? They have so many colors of that stuff. I've used the Permatex copper RTV on the rings with good results.

RTV for me lasted a couple of weeks before it dried up and caused another leak...be wary.

also i spoke with a exhaust tech today and told me you can and you are supposed to use the red high temp silicone but you place it under the o ring gasket then the oem gasket on top to seal. you have to clean out the grove using a dremel or steel wool first. Also. only use the OEM nissan o ring gasket or use the Walker part equivlient. the exhaust tech told me to stay away from any gasket from autozone advanced etc because for the most part they only use chinese flimsy gaskets

Which mating surface is "under the o-ring," that needs the RTV application, the downpipe surface or the header surface, or both? And why red RTV, when the black stuff is supposed to have higher temp tolerance or did I misread something (again)?

XXXXXXX(EDIT: if you have to use RTV, exhaust connections should only have copper high temp RTV used on them, all other RTV types will dry out, and burn off)XXXXXXX

Below are the walker part #'s for people searching.

Did anyone have CEL code with y-pipe leak?

When you were replacing your y-pipe because of a leak, were any of you popping any CEL codes???
