has anyone done this before?

i have a 98 max with the stock bose double din head unit and i wanted to put gauges in my car but i didnt like the look of them in pods. so i was wondering if i got a one din head unit and put the gauges in the empty space about the new head unit, so basically im asking if that will work or if anyone has done it?

thanks

I think its been done, you might need to fabricate a small template where the gauges would fit in. Heck I put my gauges where the air vents are in the middle of the dash. Made a template with 3 holes to fit my 60mm gauges.

This is for a 300ZX but the opening is the same. It is designed to fit in the place where the storage pocket normally is located. It should fit & work fine in a Maxima.

i have one similar to the one beatdown posted, i moved single din to the the fold down storage, and put the gauges on the top were the radio was above that little storage space. the one i bought has the gauges at an angle facing the driver seat

Yeah you can mount the gauges pretty much any angle you want. If I wasn't getting a factory bose then I'd be going with the same thing.

Sorry for the delay. This is where I have my gauges. They are 60mm.
