Knock Sensor Bypass
Knock Sensor Bypass
Does anyone know if it is possible to bypass the knock sensor on the vq? i am not sure i am going to do it, if possible, but i would like to consider my options. i am getting the knock sensor DTC, and i feel like the car should be more powerful. i dont want to spend $80 on a knock sensor if im not sure its broken. i am still trying to get a hold of a 10 Mohm ohmmeter, since mine only goes up to 500k or so.
any help or experience would be appreciated

If you need a KS replaced I can do it without removing the plenum for only $60.00. I am located just west of Chicago. Ted tfvesquire@aol.com
alright, did you wire the resistor between the two pins on the sub-harness for the KS? i think i might try it, just because i'm curious, but i will probably end up getting the cheap KS off amazon or ebay
I simply plugged the resistor into the green harness at the end of the KS and reset my ECU. The code hasn't come back and my car is running great.
I dunno how anyone can do this resistor bypass, fill up with regular gas and sleep well at night! I got the $15.00 KS off ebay, worked out fine. Don't see how anyone can skimp on a $15 buck sensor for a resistor.
. I went the resistor route because I cut the **** out of my huge hands just trying to get the socket onto the KS nut, and was never able to replace it.
{{{we were able to change out the KS by using and extension and a universal adapter....thank god we didnt have to do what the manual said by removing the manifold! but turns out even tho it was bad and we replaced it....my car is still stalling out and will not maintain idle too long at stops, turns, etc. it just dies out...i even replaced the PCM today.....cuz i finally gave up on the issues and was told by a NISSAN mechanic that it was the brain...but wrong answer....so back to square one again...

They will test your patience for sure
bummer, yeah, my dad did the bypass as well which worked out good, but it's apparent that i have something totally different going on so we are on a mission to check out a couple more sensors this weekend, cuz i'm tired of my car choking and dying on me ...and i am not that talented to drive with both feet and shift from drive to nuetral everytime i slow down or stop....just so the car wont die..
only code that came up was the P0325 -and P0505 - we replaced knock sensor....and changed out the IACV - but car is still stalling at idle and no other codes have kicked out again...no engine light on at all...??
oh and gas mileage really sucks right now...i can usually get about 260-300 on a tank....right now i got only 170 and about empty..that is horrible!

Chk vacum for leaks around the IACV that just got replaced
to make sure the gasket sealed off
You can use brake cleaner (not as potent as starter fluid) with the car running and all intake system connected spray around the IACV if it is leaking
the engine will race up

Thats pretty rough scoobymom, you seem to be having allot of problems with your car. I'd definately try to 02 sensor and if that does not help it may be time for some more drastic measure's such as actually paying some one to look at it profesionally.
