You're just going to get a bunch of different opinions when you ask a question like this.

If you like the car and can afford to fix it...then why not?

If the body is in good condition, def get it. Mechanical work is a piece of cake on this car and parts are cheap, including a used motor. Also if you buy new/refurbished parts from auto zone and places like that you get life time warranties so the next time it breaks you get another for free. Its the best way to go, I am loaded with money and prefer to have a 98 that I can mod and have fun with rather than a 2010 BMW that you cant touch because of warranty issues and monthly payments.

Eh, it all depends on personal preference. I bought my car with 286k in June of 2008 and look at my list of mods. I'm currently at 338,500 ish and still running.

What I do is, if something goes bad, I just replace it with either oem or a mod. Or I will only mod if I come across the part for a fraction of the price like most of my mods. I would not spend the full amount (on my car at least) due to it having rust and such high miles but the thing is definitely still pulling hard and reliable
