maybe his NOS wasn't tuned right.. when i didn't have my NOS tuned right.. Medic would walk me while i was using NOS.. but if i turned it off.. i would walk him..

see what happends is.. when the NOS is engauged.. as far as I know for the maxima.. the Fuel Pressure rises and then the Fuel Pump starts to richen up the engine.. if the NOS is not being sprayed .. the engine is running extra extra extra rich and this will make you slower than when you are running NA

Maybe the maxima had an even bigger shot of nitrous...

i have raced modified IS and they didn't have NOS and they were holding thier own.. so an IS with NOS would kill a 97 AUTO.. unless like i said.. its not tuned right.. or its leaking

Ahhhhhhh! Make it stop!

People, people people!

NOS is a brand name that makes many products including nitrous- it stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems

Y'all have been watching too much of The Fast and The Furious. The term is "nitrous" or "nitrous oxide". Ever since they got that plug on the movie, everyone has started to saw "dude, I gotta get more naws man!", and they all thing they are being so technical

Saying a car has "NOS" when it has NOS nitrous oxide is like saying your cars has "Stillen" when it has a Stillen Y-pipe.

I never said the IS didn't have "NOS". Reread what I wrote, I'm saying it's called "Nitrous Oxide". You can say that a car has "NOS" and be referring to any one of Nitrous Oxide System's products, they make MANY, and mand of them are not nitrous. Like I said, saying a car has "NOS" when you mean nitrous oxide, is like saying "this car has stillen" when you are reffering to a y-pipe or a FSTB.

You people aren't really this dense are you??

I agree with Threxx...

It really iritates me when people are talking about nitrous oxide in general and call it N.O.S. or even wores Nos. I laugh at them because they are like "yeah yeah I know" and they can't even name another nitrous producer. "I like to let people talk who like to talk - it lets me know how full of sh*t they are"

Nevermind, I guess you are that dense.

Please read and reread, and reread again what I wrote above. You're not getting it at all. Maybe if I put it in all caps and bold using really simple words you will understand.

I KNOW YOU ARE REFERRING TO NITROUS OXIDE SYSTEMS WHEN YOU SAY NOS... THAT IS WHAT "N.O.S." STANDS FOR.

Let's go through this one more time. If you got a Nitrous Oxide system from N.O.S., then you would say "I got a Nitrous kit from NOS on my car". Not "I've got NOS". NOS, is a brand name, and saying "(you) have NOS" on your car is just like saying "I have Stillen" when you have a stillen CAI or y-pipe or whatever.

What I'm trying to say is that when you tell people you have NOS, you are not telling them what you have on your car, you are telling them the brand name of what you have on your car. The company- NOS, makes many things including nitrous. There are also several other companies that make nitrous systems among other things such as Viper and NX express. It's just like if I came up to you and said "hey man, I've got Eddie Bauer." That wouldn't mean a damn thing to you because Eddie Bauer makes everything from shoes to couches to cologne... and so does NOS, they aren't just limited to Nitrous kits. Maybe you are getting the brand name NOS mixed up with the chemical name N20?? What if I made a post titled similar to this one titled "Yellow IS300 w/Jet vs. 97 Auto w/Stillin".

What would that mean to you? Nothing, because Jet (performance products) and Stillin are brand names, not product names. Maybe I meant that the IS300 had an electronic shift kid and the maxima had a cold air intake... how would you know that without me telling you? Same thing with NOS- these days all these dip$hits watched the fast and the furious, so they think that all nitrous is called "NOS", or "NAWS" as I hear all these idiots pronouncing it.

Man I get so tired of these people that learn how to change a damned air filter, put a "powered by honda" sticker on their car along with a resonator tip, then go watch "The Slow and the Riciest" and start talking to all their buddies about how "I'm gonna get me some NAWS, dawg!" and "Yeah, that man had some NOS on his car", and talking about how they are "street racers" and all that.

Give me a break

Does it seem slower NA all the time before you upgraded to NOS (thats for you to be bugged by Threxx ) Because I remeber before you were saying it seemed slower to you because of the colder plugs, but maybe that was before proper tuning.

Just Curious

Car is slower NA on colder plugs without my NOS activated
Car is slower than normal driving if you have your NOS activated and the tank is empty..

so say with colder plugs a 97 5spd ran 14.9 1/4 mile
a car with NOS activated with no Nitrous in the tank would probably run a 15.6 - 16

Hey guys!

Today I installed Stillen on my Maxima. Sometimes I think I can tell a difference and sometimes I'm not sure. It feels like around 2500-3000 rpms the Stillen starts to kick in, but I'm not too sure.

Once I got my Stillen put in, I was so eager to race that I lined it up with my friend who has a Camaro Z28 with Lingenfelter and Edelbrock. I think he might also have gotten RKsport and maybe Lunati as well without telling me.

Do y'all see what I'm saying now? The above paragraphs made no sense because I was saying my car had a bunch of brand names without saying that products they were specifically. NOS is a company that makes several different products. Saying a car has NOS means just as much as saying what I did in the above two paragraphs. Saying the car has a 50 shot of Nitrous Oxide from NOS or just plane saying it has a N20 kit is fine.

no you are being stupid.. Stillen makes 50 differnt products.. if someone said.. i am running NOS .. everyone knows its Nitrous.. its just like someone saying .. I raced a Vortech Maxima today.. Vortech is a product.. but anyone with half a brain knows its a Supercharged Maxima..

like i said dood.. go jerk off.. life is too short

No it's not the same... what if my mom cooked eggs and bacon and said "Your Kroger and Hillshire farms is ready!" That would be the same thing. Kroger is a manufacturer of eggs among other things and Hillshire farms is a manufacturer of bacon among other things, and so is NOS, they are a manufacturer of N2O systems among other things.

life is too short.. go jerk off or something..
Your maturity overwhelms me.

this reminds me of the kid who flipped on ClubSI because people pronouced 5Zigen .. Five Zigen and not Go Zigen..
This annoys me, do you not get annoyed by some simple things as well? Everyone does, and it just so happens that all the little ricers saying "I got NOS" and all that annoy me. Ignorance is a pet peeve of mine.

OMG!!! HAHAHAHA BRENT!!
It's me Sexima, the one that whipped IS 300 *** that night at the strip
hahaha so this is your sn?
I see...
I posted this before...
My friend with Lexus IS 300 didn't use his NOS on me
He had intake exhuast and maybe some other things...
I beat him by 1/3 car length.
so not much difference.. and to correct your opinion on my mods,
I had PR CAI and Y-Pipe.
Remember i said, "I got something for ya"
That was Y-pipe ^^

P.S.: BRENT HAS GTR EMBLEMS ALL OVER THE DAMN CAR!!!

goes to the question of communication.

when people say NOS (even if it's incorrect reference to N2O in liquid form)..people know that it's nitrous oxide made for vehicle use.

so the post makes sense. people see NOS and associates that w/ N2O.

now for example you said stillen...ok fine..put that but people won't understand what you mean...ineffective communication.

as long as people understand and people understand what you're saying (conveying your thoughts)..i think it's ok. can't get around it man. it's marketing..pure marketing. just like when someone say VTEC..people know it's a Honda product.

Yeah, it is marketing.... but Nitrous Oxide Systems did a great job of it with the movie "The Slow and The Riciest" because ever since that movie came out, I hear all of these people that don't know a muffler from a radiator talking about "nawwwws". The other day I was talking to this guy who told me he was getting "nawwws" on his car. I asked him, what shot? He had no idea. I asked him, are you sure you want NOS or might you consider NX express or another brand of nitrous? He then tells me nitrous is bad for your car, and that is why he is getting NOS instead. OMG I wanted to slap the kid and tell him to go buy something more suitable for his car knowledge, like maybe a minivan.

I guess I don't mind people saying "NOS" when they are talking about a nitrous kit from NOS, the company. But when they use NOS as a catchall to refer to nitrous oxide, that kind of erks me.

Hmmm... let's see, I'm working as a network administrator and webmaster (said in less words- technical administrator). That's a bit different from a computer tech. I'm A+, N+, CNA, CNE and MCSE, don't think I'm going to be sticking to computer repairs at your local best buy.

And what does age have anything to do with the topic at hand? You find out your wrong so you start making immature comments towards me, then when I don't return them you start attacking my age and profesion? Get a life moron.

I guess what it comes down to is you felt frustrated that you kept making a fool out of yourself in the real discussion we were having earlier, so you resolved to 3rd-grade name calling and juvenile phrases. When that didn't work than you started attacking my age and occupation. hmmm... I see you don't have yours listed... were you a network admin making 50k a year at the age of 19? So why was it you were knocking my job?? Oh, and then when that didn't work, you started telling me that "(I) don't want (you) as (my) enemy". This is the internet you moron, I couldn't give a $hit less if you felt so inclined to "be my enemy"... oh ooops, it seems here that you have 9,000 posts in less than 10 months. I guess I see the dilema here, this board is your life, and you are upset that I am disrupting it.

N.O.S.

Just out of curiosity, what other sorts of products are produced by nitrous oxide systems. It sounds pretty clear to me. But I'm pretty dumb.
I did see some fuel additive with NOS blazenly printed on it's side. I guess the idea there is to trick those on the very thin edge of the bell curve.

Hey Threxx, when you say CNA, are you referring to CISCO. I'm studying for my CCNA cert. at this very moment. Obviously not doing too well at studying.
Coincidentally, I live in Nashville. But I'm still quite easily entertained, like in middle school.
