Poly Shifter Bushings

http://performanceparts.com/part.php?partID=290335

Will the Energy Suspension 7.1115G/R bushings fit the 1995-1999 (4th Gen)?

Can't stand my shifter slop!

They appear to be made for the 5th gen 6 speed MT.

I'm not sure. I just replaced mine with an OEM one. Inspect yours first. Mine was fine but I replaced it anyways. I still have the sloppy shifter so I'm not sure what else it could be.

Gotcha, the slop is really annoying. Makes driving a lot less enjoyable. Only have 74k miles too .

Good lord! I'm 100k past you. Your bushing may be fine. I'm going to look at the pivot point this weekend and see if theres any play anywhere.

Yeah they are pricey. I think there is one for sale right now in the 4th gen classifieds.

Edit: Found it http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generation-classifieds-1995-1999/618229-fs-polyurethane-shifter-bushing-used.html

pricey but worth it imo.. takes all the slop out of the shifter, and makes it feel and more precise. Also if you have an sts, it will multiply that feeling.

I'm right there with ya. 171k and my bushing is OEM (stock still) as well. I have a sts and it feels 'chunky' if that makes sense. I don't mind it and never miss a shift. For some this is a pita and I can understand that. We have to keep in mind that this 5mt is probably one of the worst out there. lol Sloppy is it's middle name!

You might be able to firm up the shift rod, it may take a washer or two to really tighten it up (nylon) but you can 'firm' it up to a degree. If you look at it, you'll understand. The whole design IMO sucks - functional, but wtf was Nissan thinking? Rods??? Why ..... I'm gonna go 6spd soon as I can get the scratch together.
