Weird Problem

Recently when I've been driving around, I had something happen to me twice that is really weird. I've never had this happen to me so I hope someone else could help me out.

A few days ago when I was driving, I was approaching a traffic light so I shifted into neutral (5 spd), and the engine stalled on me while I was cruising and slowing down. I restarted the car again, and when I fully stopped it stalled once again. The light turned green so I tried to gas it. The car stalled two more times, then I gave it some extra gas to try keeping the engine from dying and it finally worked. This happened to me again yesterday but I was able to restart it and it hasn't happened again.

Also the first time this happened, I noticed that my first and second gear were acting up a bit, it felt like the transmission might have been slipping, but I have never had this happen before so I am not sure. I would give it gas, it would hesitate some and my tachometer would raise about 400 rpms for a few seconds.

Any help would be appreciated!

just a guess but maybe this will prompt a discussion: but it sounds like maybe your shift to neutral somehow kept it in gear and if you had issues with your lower gears too maybe its something with your clutch not releasing and seizing up? Was it a harsh jerky stall? 5Spders out there any insight?

It was a quiet calm stall, the only reason I knew it stalled was because of the lack of power steering. The gears only acted up that one time. The other time it stalled it didn't really do anything to the gears.

sounds maybe like you need a new fuel filter or something is wrong with your fuel pressure.

check the fuel filter or maybe you got some bad fuel. Try a can of Seafoam!

Thanks for all of the suggestion guys! I've changed my fuel filter recently so I'm sure that isn't the problem. It hasn't stalled since then, and I've refueled my gas tank so hopefully it was just a bad tank of gas I got.
