Stock Toyo tires- Any good in snow

97 SE
I have the stock toyo tires on. A little poor right now to get snow tires.
Any idea how they will handle snow?

thanks

The stock Toyos' SUUUUUUUUCK in the snow. Replaced mine at 20k miles
cause winter was coming. Just drive carefully until you can buy tires
with better snow traction. Lowering your tire pressure 2-3 psi should help a little bit for now.

I did not have mine in the snow but seems strange to me that Nissan would bother putting on ones that were crap. I would think they would put somewhat decent year rounds on there.

At least get some M+S all-season perf tires. Get rid of those Toyo Proxies...they are truly horrible in the snow and rain.

I got snows cheap on EBAY, worth a look. I'd rather spend a little money on snows than big money after putting the car in a ditch.

if you are having trouble with traction in the snow you don't want to lower tire pressure. lowering tire pressure is only good for non-snow conditions, to get a larger contact patch.
in snow you don't want such a large contact patch & a taller side wall helps to cut thru the snow
best thing to do is the dig deep into your pocket & invest in two snow tires for the front

I was told not to put on two snows in the front as it will not balance the car during sudden stops and may cause the car to spin due to low traction in the back.

Just what I was told.

Whoever said that gave good advice.

I haven't driven mine in the snow yet but does 50 pounds or so of rock salt or sand in the trunk help? On my last vehicle, a rear wheel drive van I could not get through the winter without 200 pounds over the rear axle.
