Getting no love it the Audio section...

So I guess I need to ***** it over here a little bit.

http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...lder-gens.html

Short version: Anyone use or try to use a factory/OEM Nissan double DIN nav system in a 4th Gen? Looking at 2007-2009 units.

You would need to make sure that the nav unit has the software or dvd drive built into the unit. Most factory nav systems use vehicle speed sensor readings and possibly more. Without looking at the wiring diagram I can't tell you exactly what would be required and I could still be wrong.

In case you don't know, factory navigation systems are usually several years behind aftermarket ones. If you get a 07-09 system you'll hate it and it's awkward functionality. I understand the idea of using factory parts for stealth, brand pride, etc. but I think this idea is terrible. You're way better off getting a nice aftermarket system. Also, how often do you need navigation? If it is a rare thing for you or you only want it for looks you can get a much cheaper double din and a good portable nav.

as long as its the same size it will fit fine. you might have to get a small amp to power the unit and the speakers and fab a mounting bracket. its easier than it sounds. bose are a real pain due to their wiring and amps. i got rid of my bose and upgraded everything to jl audio. had to rewire every speaker. its really not that big of a deal.

how much are you spending on it? you can get a really nice navi for like $900. check out crutchfield.com or something like that.

what i did was put a receiver on the bottom slot and a 7inch touch screen above it in the double din that is hooked up to a netbook under the pass seat. it looks factory and i have a touch screen computer in my dash.

i tethered my cell to the netbook and i get internet in my car. i called it my mobile office. who needs a navi when you have the internet?
