Hard to turn the ignition.

I'm having a problem getting the ignition to turn. I have to wiggle the key and even that sometimes doesn't help.

I'm sure its not the key casue I've used my other keys and it still has the same problems.

Is the steering wheel locked when this happens? If the wheel is locked, the key won't turn. Move the steering wheel to unlock it, then the key will turn.
If that's not it, you may need to replace the ignition switch.

yeah it could be the steering wheel lock, with your left hand gently hold the steering wheel to the left or right, whichever feels the most free and then with your right hand turn the key and it should be easier

How many miles do you have? If you haven't changed your ignition switch yet, it's probably about that time.

Then change the ignition switch which is very easy to do.

The stiffness in turning the key could also be the lock cylinder itself. Before you run out and buy another ignition switch, take it off and try turning the key.

The ignition switch slides into the back of the lock cylinder

If you need to replace the lock cylinder read this thread

the cylinder is probably on its way out. is there a lot of play when the key is in the ignition?
you can get a new tumbler. it is very easy to install.

someone "attempted" to steal my car and punched the ignition. they couldn't get it to start, thank god. i got a new tumbler and had a locksmith match the tumbler to my original keys so i was not walking around with 2 sets of keys. it cost me $100 to get the tumbler matched to the keys.

heres a pic of what you will need:

watch this video on how to remove the ignition switch. It's pretty easy.

Just be careful when you are taking the screws out of the ignition switch as there are exposed wire connections that are live. Or you can unplug the ignition switch before taking out the screws.
