What is the mode door?

Are you talking about heater blend door?

Mode door is the one that shifts air flow from defrost to vent to floor. It's either right above or right below the heater blend door.

You apparently have access to a FSM for the '97 Maxima. Check out page HA-38 - it deals with the HVAC wiring harness, and shows locations for all the various motors. Looks like the mode door motor is behind the center console on the passanger side.

ok thanks dude, see im trying to do a swap i want to chane my ecc to a newer looking ones that are in the 98s and 99s i have done all the wiring to match up the 99's and 98;s but i need to swap out the air mix motot and air door motor and this project is complete, but i need to figure out if the both of these things will fit. which i need to figure out. any help if you know they will fit

FWIR the motors should be the same for all digital climate controls.

the guy who is swaping it from me said i need to swap out the air mix door motor and the air door motor, but i gotta see if the 99 of the two things i listed is compatiable with my 97.

The are more sensors in the 99 ecc as well. Did you get all those swapped over?

yea i got all the wiring matched up and everything i need. all i need to do is swap out 2 lil mootors and im done. ill have the 99 se model withe the amb button in the 97 maxima
