Why Isn't The Maxima Like The Camry?
I was stuck with a 4banger 98 camry for 1200 miles of driving. That thing straight has no passing power at all. I miss my Maxima so much. Anyways, I hate how my Maxima's cruise control stops at 91 MPH. The Camry I got up to 105 and cruised it; the car just would not do anymore. At any rate, I drive a lot of open highway driving, and with my radar detector I rarely stay under 90MPH on these highways. I want my cruise control to go higher. Anyone know a bypass?
Thanks!!!

cuz if the max was like a Camry it would SUCK!!
More on topic...I don't know of any bypass...I'm guessing the speed it programmed into the computer..and you'd have to get your ECU re-programmed to get rid of it.
I know what you mean..my old Acura Legend could have the cruise set at 110mph....

Most car manufacturers have the CC maximum speed set at 90. Why? Because its 15 MPH above the highest speed limit in the US. Either way, if you are doing 100, you really should have complete control of the car.
And why are you comparing a 130 HP 4 banger to a car that makes 60 more HP?

and anyways, if that camry is stable under cruise control at 100 (feels safe) then my Maxima will definately be stable at higher speeds. I understand the purpose for doing it, but on open roads, especially around here, you get passed doing 90.
What about any Maxima's that have found their way to places with unrestricted speedlimits?

Talking about cruise control, I took a look at Haynes manual. Seems one CC button connects to horn relay. That leads me to think whenever horn is applied the CC will be canceled. Anybody knows? For safety it could be, because applying horn means somewhat emergent and driver should get fully involved.

Going 91mph, disengaging the cruise will not help much
but it ****es me of because my grand am can do more at cruise, and the damn thing governs out at 107mph! But can hold a cruise at 105!
it's okay, cuz my potiac never saw 130+, while my maxi has seen it plenty of times!

I don't get where everyone else lives that people keep saying everyone does 80, 90, 100+ on interstates/highways...people here tend to go 5 under the posted speed limit on all roads. On the interstate through the city (Omaha, NE) I guess its not as noticable, but the average speed there is probably in between 0-5mph over the limit (60).
My friend in Atlanta said you get booed off the interstate if you go under 80...
As for unrestricted speed limits, you'll have to go to Deutschland for that I believe. In Montana, while they dont have a posted speed limit, that doesnt mean cops can't write speeding tickets. In fact, I believe cops there can write tickets for any speed that they feel is "excessive". This would almost be worse to me than a posted speed limit, because I know I'd get that *** that would say 65 is "excessive" (well, not any more, since I drive a family-man's car, and not a teenage-looking tinted, bumpin integra![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I think you should have control at 100+, but it would depend on the locale. Here, if I go 90 on the interstates around the region, even on those that have a 75 limit I'm passing quite a bit of traffic, even in downtime hours.
