shocks and springs: help

fellas...
help me out here, looking to replace the shocks for 98 Max SE.
i was reading a few sites, and wanted to know your opinion for tokico, kyb or monroe shocks, which ones handles best?

read a few sites, and they said the front left and front right are different (http://www.redlinemotive.com/store/t...s/nissan.asp)? is this true? where is the best site to order from? also, do i need to change my springs?

my car has over 200k (purchase with 70k and didnt do anything), and i was hoping to drive this for another 5yrs.

the site i was looking to order from is: www.autopartswarehouse.com

tokico front: Part #: T38HB3102
tokico rear: Part #: T38HU2905

any explanation would be helpful, i have a mechanic that will help me install.

as always...cant thank the members enough here!

Are you ever going to lower the car? Are you going more for comfort or handling?

its my commuter car, don't really care about lowering it; just thought this would need to be changed since the shocks are being done. i want more handling then comfort.

We would probably need more information on the type of driving you will be doing, and what kind of height you want to sit at. I was able to search 4th gen springs and got a few different pics and opinions. Also, pm'ing people with the setups help as well.

Alright so go with the KYB GR2's and keep your SE springs or find some lower mileage ones. You'll be happy, trust me

Go on eBay and search, you'll find the struts. I'm not sure of the part numbers off the top of my head.

As for other stuff you'll probably need new strut mounts and new dustboots/bump stops.

rock auto ftw.
how many miles on suspension? strut boots (bellows) are tricky, but if yours are in good condition, just reuse them. make sure to change the front strut mounts + bearings if you have a lot of miles. I got my wife some kyb's, still waiting to put them on

Shox.com has a low price guarantee plus they are an authorized distributor...so you will have warranty coverage. That's where I got my tokico blues from a few weeks ago for $319 shipped.

With that many miles be sure to replace the strut mounts too. I used moog strut mounts from amazon and new nissan front boots with kyb rear boots.

They're on there to prevent debris from entering the strut housing and ruining the piston seal. You can drive without strut boots, but why would you increase the chances of premature failure to save a few bucks? Same thing for inner tie rod boots. It's a no-brainer.

I went with H&R springs and KYB GR2 shocks on my 97. I can tell you that you will def loose any luxury ride you might have had before tho. It was pretty stiff and the H&R springs I went with were the closest to stock ride height they had available. I also needed to go with the adjustible/cammed strut mount/spindle bolts to get the correct alignment.

You should not have needed to go with adjustable bolts with that kind of drop. I'm dropped on Progress and I have no camber issues at all. IMO, if you are under 2 inches, you do not need that
