Selling my Maxima, is it worth my $7k asking price?

Hey Guys,

I want you guys to let me know if $7k is a fair price for my Maxima. I'll post pics later, but just from my mod list. I also live in Canada so the mileage is in km's not miles.

Basically posting my ad to be...

For Sale I have my 1998 Nissan Maxima SE with 153 XXX KM's. It comes with heated front seats, power front seats (both driver and passenger), power windows and Sunroof. The car is clean inside and out, with no rust on the body. Has been Krown'd all its life. It currently makes 345WHP Dyno Tuned on a Mustang Dyno with the items/modifications listed below. Asking $7000 FIRM, Anything under don't bother to call. I've spent countless hours on this car. No test pilots.

Suspension/Tires

Tokico Illuminas Struts, 5-way adjustable
Tein springs 1.75" Drop
Rota P45 18" Rims
Falken Azenis RT615 245/50/18
Front Strut Bar
Rear Strut Bar
Rear Sway Bar

Exterior

R34 Headlights
PIAA Low Beams and High Beams

Engine

Vortech V2 Supercharger with 2.87" Pulley ~13.4PSI
3" Charge Piping
Greddy FMIC
Greddy Type-S BOV
300ZX MAF
AEM meth kit (tank located in trunk)
Variable Intake from a 2000-2001 Maxima
Deatschwerks 600cc Injectors
Coil Voltage Booster running at 16v
Walbro 255LPH Pump
OBX Headers
Budget Downpipe
Gutted Cat
2.5" Stainless Steel Costume Catback
Vibrant Resonator
Vibrant Muffler with a 45°Down Tip

Transmission

6 Puck Sprung Bully Clutch
Modified pressure plate to hold over 400Tq
Fidanza 12lbs Flywheel
Short Throw Shifter

Gauges

Innovate Wide Band A/F Gauge
Auto Meter Voltage Gauge
Auto Meter Oil Pressure Gauge
All these gauges are on a piller pod

Greddy Boost Gauge
Greddy Fuel Pressure Gauge
Greddy Pyrometer Gauge
All these gauges are on a custom center vent pod

J&S Safeguard Knock Gauge
Mounted on the steering wheel column

Tuning

Greddy E-Manage Ultimate
Custom Plug and Play Harness to revert to stock ECU
J&S Safeguard for automatic knock prevention

The Badish things about the car:

The car was repainted and the paint didn't match perfectly. Fenders, Front Bumper, Hood and Rear Bumper was what got painted. Looking at the car from the side you can tell under certain lighting.

Greddy Boost gauge doesn't sit at zero/ sometimes does its own thing.
Greddy Pyrometer sensor is done. I believe the sensor wire has broken (I can probably fix)
Driver side leather has some small tears near the edge (bought the car like this)
Driver side insert needs to be changed.

Comments?

Will post them sometime later this week. I can do exterior pics but interior wise I still have to hide the J&S + the Emanage so thats whats holding me back. I'll post them as soon as I can. Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow so I can finish up the interior.

i honestly think for a 98 SE w/ 98,000 Miles and all those goodies for $7K is a great price. problem is not many people would want to buy a tastefully modded maxima. u might do better off parting it out back to stock and selling it. but thats my opinion. glws.

+1 on pics

Honestly, it depends on the condition of the body with regards to rust. IMO, its worth all $7,000 but don't forget that mods tend to devalue a car, unless of course you can find the right buyer. As others have said you might be better off parting it out and selling it in stock form to get $7,000.

$7,000 is a great price for the miles. The only thing is, like 99BlackmaxMS said, most buyers won't appreciate the mods unless they know their stuff. So they will see it just as an added bonus that shouldn't affect the price.

I think you could make more profit if you sell it as stock and sell your aftermarket parts separately.

^^^^ +1 on that lol.

$7k is good price. If anything might be a lil low. i say $8000.

In mass. the used car market is pricey. Your car, in good condition, lists an asking price of $3500 w/ NO mods. Add the tires ($1200 used), lowering kit ($600 used), supercharger ($3500 used) , exhaust w/ headers ($500 used), Emange ($1500), safe 400HP car to drive add another $500 jus cuz u did it right.

Thats a total of $11300, if u sell the car as it is now. Unless u buy another max, its not worth keep any of that stuff. Parting it out takes time and effort and unless u got the stock parts, it aint worth doing.

Maybe $11k is a lil high. Ask for $10k

It's raining all week. If that's the case I can't do any photos because I can't clean the inside of the car. IE hide the Emanage/J&S. Everyday it's raining till next Monday...WTF!

Honestly to an Org member thats a great price, but to the public like many have said most wont really appreciate the mods to take in affect their worth. Some may even be leary of buying a car that is so modded.
Selling a modded car really only appeals to a small percentage of buyers, this is why so many individuals part out before they sell.
Good luck with your sale though man.
If for some reason you do decide to part out, hit me up. Id be interested in a few things you have.

It's priced about right.

Like others stated, most likely only a fellow Maxima enthusiast would pay that price though. The general population will wan't nothing to do with your car.

Agreed. SC=$1500-$2000, EU=~$400, and LOL at used tires.

I meant for the tires/wheel combo. U guys knew what i mean lol. 18s new at some places and depending on what you get are 1600 new. 1200 might be a lil aggressive. Lets say 800 cuz we tryin to get rid of them.

I have seen on the org multiple times, for used superchargers...$3000.
Isnt it $5000 new?? Think im lying??? check it:

http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan...l00043287.html

That should be adaptable to the 97-99.

A new EU was $1700. $400 is wayyyyy to low, I wdnt even sell it then. Got that price off ebay.

EDIT: I was lookin at the wrong model year...I found this EU which is universal but will work with the max:
http://www.proimporttuners.com/index...roducts_id=669

evertythin else i sd was spot on. and I still stand by that asking price of $10k.

$7000 is wayyyy to low to sell. Unless the OP really need tha cash and jus tryin to get rid of it. i wd jus keep it

No offense buddy, but myself and others have been in the Maxima game way longer than you. People ask 3k all the time for SC kits, but in reality they always sell for $1,500 to $2000.

New EU's are $500 all day long (plus the $100 harness)..... so $400 used is spot on.

7k is spot on for a good beginning asking price. If the deal is so good, you should buy it and flip it for a profit.

u guys dont understand...the used car market here is ridiculous. jus yesterday, I saw a 1994 ford tempo, selling for $2999. Thats insane!! who wd pay that much for a 1994 ford tempo!!

Thats why i say, he selling the car too low. Its worth an asking price of 3500 in this market and with the mods he has...its worth at least double that. Even more.

My boy jus sold his 03 altima with 140k for 5500. THat was 3 months ago.

Not sure why you're comparing your friends 03 altima to the OP's 98 Maxima.. Your making our argument even stronger.

O I hear you wiz. Its all about how much u can ACTUALLY get for it.

I def think he can move it $7k. But if it was me, knowing how much time, money, and effort...i wdnt even sell it. But Im not the OP and im sure he got his reasons for selling it.

You honestly cant believe the majority of the public is going to be willing to pay for mods. Mods do not add the value to a car unless the buyer is interested in that specific vehicle with the plans to mod. And even then some would be leary about buying a previously modded car, with them not knowing the actual full history such as was it driven modestly or beaten on.
Oh, and in regards to a SCer setup, a brand new unit can be had for less then what you posted.
You can buy a new blower directly from Vortech for 2200.00 and then buy Mattys kit for 1359.00 wich has pretty much everything needed to get a basic setup running minus some hoses and the feed line.

Personal experience with selling 4-5 cars.
If its heavily modded like yours is post it up on this forum and wait a month or two if your not in any hurry to sell it. If that doesn't work for you, begin the part out. Good news is you'd get more money back that way then selling the mods with the car bad news is its over a long period of time. Then your car will have a larger potential market of buyers.

Flava is giving you the taste of what is out there. Shoppers are very weary of buying modded cars from young guys(below 35). Buyers who buy moded cars REALLLY need to be impressed with detailed recipts etc. to show work. and the SC setup..

I fully agree with what you guys are saying. I'm not in a rush to sell the car. So I have patience for the right buyer. If I partout it will be just before winter. Pics to come this Saturday! It's gonna be sunny

Just my 2 cents, but 7K seems a fair price to me. You will never get back fully what you put into it in regards to mods, time, elbow grease. Most buyers only look at the age and mileage on a car. You might do better to focus on selling via ebay, and car domain to buyers that will appreciate all that you've done.

Honestly the reason I want to sell my car is because it guzzles gas. But after fixing a stuck caliper, and a semi noisy/randomly engaging AC condenser I might keep the car as currently I'm at 450-500 km's and close to empty (light hasn't come on yet) I also have done my share of boost runs, and I can tell you that ain't helping with the gas mileage

The above was recently just done so the gas millage can only improve.

All in all, I have to do some eco runs and see what I can average. Without doing any 3rd gear pulls

Pics to come this Saturday.
