Well Ill start out with postin the codes I just pulled

0102
1103

0102 I believe is the MAF sensor

The ECU decoder explains 1103 as Improper shifting to first gear (A/T)

now for some history

about 6 months ago my engine stalled on the highway while coasting into some slow traffic. since then the problem has gotten progressively worse, mostly stalling at stop lights in gear, but now it stalls almost everytime I get in the car to go somewhere.

I tried cleaning the maf a few months ago and I replaced the fuel filter last week before finally trying to figure out how to pull the CEL codes. Now Im relieved that the stalling issue is most definitely coming from the MAF, but where the F is this trans code coming from?

My CEL just came on like a month or two ago, well after I cleaned my maf. is the 1103 a ghost code that could have been there since I bought the car over a year ago?

Improper shifting?? Looks like you gonna have to start shopping for a tranny or a donor one to get the solenoids from.

What color is your tranny fluid? Does it have bubbles in it? Is it filled up?

theres no reservoir, not sure with the autos but you remove the speedo sensor on the manuals. one 10mm bolt and just wiggle the thing out. you have to remove air intake assembly to get a better look. be careful with the sensor, its plastic.

Look at the front valve cover from under the hood. To the right, yu should see next to it, a long stem with a red handle attached. pull that out and check the level and color. That's your tranny dipstick.

No, you don't remove the VSS on the 5MT to check the fluid level. The VSS is lower than the fill plug, which will cause you to fill it with less fluid than it's spec'd for (or if full to the proper amount, you'll drain some out).

Use the fill plug, that's what it's there for.

The stalling could be a bad MAF or could be a bad/dirty IACV.

This trans code generally indicates a serious problem within the trans, requiring rebuild or replacement.

If the trans seems to be working properly, clean or replace the MAF, reset the codes, keep driving it.

Your talking bout the half inch drive plug on the front of it, causing it to pour out?

Do what? You should be neither checking nor filling the trans through the VSS hole.
