Y pipe considerations

Y pipe considerations
I'm planning in installing a y pipe (down pipe) on my 99 Max.
I have some questions about Y pipes:
How loud would the car get if changing only the Y pipe? ( I have the 2001 variable exhaust muffler installed.
Would I lose low end power ( my max is auto)?
Should I have a problem with the emissions?
Does the gas mileage vary, would it get worse?
which y pipe would be the best?
and last, how many HP would I get?

as for my reply Son go and get a Y pipe you wont regret it trust me, it will increase your horse power. As for what name brand I personally like my Cattman.

I just had a Cattman SS Ypipe installed and the noise increase is hardly noticeable. In fact, all you hear is an increase in idle noise (turns from quiet smooth to a slightly less refined sound, but not too bad). In terms of power, expect approx 7-8hp to the wheels without an intake, approx 10-12hp with an intake. Don't confuse horsepower to the wheels with hp at the crank.
If there is any loss in low end, I have not noticed it. I do notice that I can spin the wheels a little more easily now, which suggests extra power on tap.

You shouldn't notice much (if any) noise difference.
I prefer Cattman's Y-pipe.

I keep the right backpressure, and noise, doubling the exhaust volume when you need it.- I did notice a slight difference in power, but the major advantage was with the sound, as in WOT, the original muffler sounded like a bad vacuum cleaner (hissed a lot). I expect to have still a greater difference with the Y pipe. I don’t know the cost, as a friend gave it to me when he changed the muffler of his max 2001
