Swapping 99 Maxima seats into an I30 - SRS question

Is it possible to swap the leather seats on a 99 Maxima (without SRS) into a 99 i30 that originally came with seat SRS?

I have an i30 with SRS seats that need to be replaced and some good condition 99 Maxima seats without seat SRS. I would like to replace the I30 SRS seats with the non-SRS Maxima seats.

A couple of weeks ago, the ECM from the non-SRS 99 Maxima replaced the I30's bad ECM. Dealer reset NATS. No problems so far.

Will moving the SRS module (under center console) from the 99 non-SRS Maxima into the i30 and then resetting codes resolve the SRS light?

From a quick look through both FSMs, the pinouts should be the same and I imagine that a '99 airbag module w/o side airbags should indeed fit in a '99 i30, and resolve the SRS light from not using seats with side airbags.

Never having done this, I can't say for certain, but I would say yes, it should work.

He would have to swap the air bag sensor module under the console. It is a different module with side air bags than without them.

Without side airbags, the module has only one wire harness connector, whereas with side air bags the module has 2 wire harness connectors. The 2nd connector is for the satellite sensors that go with the side air bags.

Isn't that exactly what he asked in the first post?

This is correct.

I did this on my 98 I30. Swapped in non-airbag seats AND the correct airbag module under the console. You will have an unused electrical connector in the harness. Other than that, no problem.
