So i sold my 1997 maxima se before i went to basic training for the army...now two days ago my buddy found it on craigslist here in kansas city, i went adn checked it out and it now has 230k miles on it, and is absolutely hideous, its pretty bad. anyways i figured damn this was meant to be, so on saturday im buying it for 1700 bucks. The thing is today i discovered i will be deploying on the 2nd of august and wont be able to restore it until i get back! tell me what you think, ill post pics this saturday...
I think you paid too much, probably a 1200 car. Thanks for protecting my freedom though and I hope you are happy.
im sure i am paying too much, but the car means more to me sentimentally than it does on the market...i gotta have it back, and this time...its gonna be a BIG build.

nice job finding your first car back.....i dont know about what you guys pay for cars over there...but over here a 4th gen max which is identical to a i30 goes for about $4000-$6000 depending on condition....i got lucky with mine and paid $2800 for it but it has a few problems and has 240,000kms on it...
my sister bought a 2000 honda accord in 2006. she just sold it a few months ago to the person she bought it from (who was buying it for his kid or something). both times it was just listed on autotrader - totally random.
i looked in to buying back my first car, like 5 years later. i sold the car with a bad trans (ironic because i could fix it in a couple hours now, it was just a broken shift fork). i sold it for $600 with 201k on it but in WONDERFUL shape. this fcking guy was asking $2600 for the thing with like 268k now and beat to **** now (actually made me really sad to see it in such bad shape because I really loved that car and it was in great shape when I sold it). I obviously didn't buy it.

Had a G20, that I "sold" to my brother. When I bought my Max. Then after about a year he wasn't liking it, and i was uber missing the agility and gokart feel. On his way home to give it back, and take his truck out of storage; flipped it, twice, end for end....
Yeah it really isn't that bad, it needs a front bumper and needs to be painted. I also have to work on the clutch, gonna replace the slave cylinder. Isn't really that bad, I know more about cars now than I did when I had it, so its gonna be fun.

i had an 00 maxima i sold it in 05, only thing wrong with it was scratches on the rear bumper thats how i bought, the letter n scracthed onto the driver fender, it had batman mudflaps and it had a sony xplod headunit. i saw it parked at a pizza place and thought it was my car due to it having a very unique scratch on the rear bumper, i saw it again at the same place 2 more times, thats when i went and parked right next to it and looked at the scratch on rear bumper and the particular letter on the fender and the sony xplod headunit and batman floor mats were all there. I was shocked to see it wasnt taken care of, the seats were ripped up, rims were full of curb age, paint had a ton more blemishs on it, front bumper was torn up. As i left the place and looked back at it i saw the same person i sold it to carrying pizza boxes and such to deliver, so a mint car which i sold for so much $$$ became an abused to **** pizza delivery vehicle. I can just imagine wat it ran like,
Hell yeah, if it can survive the abuse of the ****er i sold it to, then i have lots of faith in it. that car is a dime on the inside, i know it very well.

i dont know if id be interested in buying any of my older cars back. you never really know all of the hacking and destroying someone else has done until your too far into it financially for bs repairs and lack of maintenance.
however in a friend of mine's case, he had a srt-4 he built back a few years ago...the east coasts fastest on the size turbo he was using to a dodge mopar employee (or something like that) in michigan who is a real big enthusiast, he talked to him and said the car is still barely driven, and is in the same condition it was when he sold it, and was considering buying it back. now that would be worth it
