Cmaxima's Mini Summer progress thread.

Sup Org. So since I've been home from college I've slowley been compiling parts and money to work on the Max. Since I'm in school I don't have the tools, money, place, or time to work on my car during the semester so I have to make the summer count. Here's what I have so far...

Red/clear tails. I made these myself using that acrylic sheeting from celing lights...

Fogs: I picked up two feet of overlay and went to town. Turne out great and looks awesome at night....

Thursday my suspension is going on. Dropping the car about 1.7 inches. I recently picked up OEM mud gaurds from a junk yard for $15.00. They're a little scuffed up but nothing a little sanding and painting cant take care of. These will be put on when I do my drop in the next two day... Pics to come....

Along with my drop im painting my wheels. I just picekd up all the sandpaper, primer, Duplicolor wheel paint, and Duplicolor wheel clear coat. The color I went with was Sports Bronze. Looks just like this...
\

On friday I'll post up the pics of everything on the car (suspension, wheels, and mudgaurds) I'll also throw up some shots of the entire car.

No, I have some ugly aftermarkets that are starting to peel becasue they are so ****ty. I plan on buying new wheels next summer but for now I'm just going to paint them and be happy with it.

The fogs were a pain in my ***. I can't imagine the work it would take to Vinyl an entire car. After the suspension is done I might try a projector retrofit along with some LED's in the following locations: under the radio in the store pocket, in the cupholders, gauge cluster, door handles, and maybe floor lighting but we'll see.

One more pic. I made this heat shield out of some pretty thick aluminum sheeting I picked up at a hobby shop. Since this picture it has been painted black and some wire loom has been added to the edges so it doesnt cut anything. **EDIT** Fresh air is forced into the shield using the factory snorkel. The shield has a hole cut into it to allow the snorkel the feed air in.

With this I have noticed a little less heat soak in my filter. I also have my hood raised just slightly with as reduced temps a little it seems. I don't have any number or temp readings on these mods but just from feeling the ambient heat of certain areas before and after these mods it seems to do SOME amount of good.

Progress Report!

I got to working on the mud flaps. They were pretty scuffed so I hit them with some sand paper to smooth them out and make them pretty uniform. I then cleaned them with soap and water and a brillo pad and was looking around the house for something to paint them with when I stumbled upon a can of Plasi-Dip.

***Before anyone says anything, this will be the ONLY thing I Plasti-dip on my car. I know how some of you Org'ers feel about Plasi-Dip. ***

I figured the resistant rubber coating would work well for a mud gaurd considering it's going to take some abuse. Once it dries I'm going to post pics of them on and off the car.

Also, tomorrow is the big day! My giant box of parts is going on my car and I can hardly wait.

Got the mud gaurds installed and they fit and look great. The matte color of the Plasti-dip looks pretty good against the black.

You can also get an idea of what my wheels looks like since I didnt post up pics earlier. These are getting pained bronze tomorrow.

Mud gaurds + drop + sport bronze wheels = Sex.

Never been a fan of mud gaurds
Are you painting the entire wheel or keeping the polished lip?

I don't know why but I've always liked the mud gaurds. And I can't decide if I want to keep it or not.

Thoughts on what I should do anyone?

Yeah, I hate the wheel/tire combo. However it get me to and from school so it works for now. Since it pretty much just sits while im down at school I plan to just tune wtih up with new injectors, plugs, fuel filtre etc and head back to school. In the winter I plan to get new wheels and tires and use the current ones as winter wheels. I will be keeping the Bronze/Black combo becasue it looks ****ing sexy in person. The pictures dont do it justice, honestly.

Dont do the MEVI unless you have a way to raise the rev limiter.

I don't know what but I always wanted a set. Everyone on here wants 150 dollars at least for a set shipped. I just went to the local junkyard and got some for like 25. With a little TLC they looks good as new

And thanks ChrisMan. Your car always looks good and it's one of my favorite 4G's out there.
